So yeah, it's butt early in the morning here, and I can't sleep, so I was reading the Naruto thread in the General forum. Basically, for some random reason, decided I should create my first ever blog on TL and make it about another manga/anime that I enjoy:
One Piece
*Oh, I guess be somewhat wary of spoilers? Common sense I guess. Please spoiler latest stuff maybe?*
So, does anyone here read the manga/watch the anime? I'm current on the manga, but like 50 episodes behind on the anime 
I feel that One Piece has it's ups and downs but generally is fun/light-hearted/entertaining and personally, Luffy is one of my favorite characters ever.
Enies Lobby was so effing long and annoying. I'm glad that finally ended. Newer stuff is all pretty cool IMO.
Anyways, DISCUSS, post crap, rate my blog a 1!

Generally speaking though, if you really want to have a good experience reading a manga, I feel it's better to torrent/download volumes from the "better" scanlation groups. Cause most/all online viewers use the first release each week irregardless of what group released it. And some groups do rather sub-par jobs, though most One Piece groups are pretty good.

I've watched like 350 eps of the anime but I stopped after the Enies Lobby arc. That was just so horrible and long it didn't make me wanna watch anymore.
One Piece is one of those animes I've liked the most, Luffy is so funny!
I read the manga but I stopped that one too because I was to lazy to catch up on everything but I think I'm gonna give the manga another try.
I read Bleach/Naruto manga though!
What did you think of the latest Naruto manga, if you read it? Put it in spoiler for safety reasons!

I remember a long time ago (maybe 2002ish), I used to spend entire afternoons reading One Piece manga on a website that scanned each page and translated it. It was quite a while before it was officially translated into English. I loved it so much, I even bought a few pirated Chinese DVDs of the movies. Haven't kept up with it since then, though.
My favorite character was Zoro. And Nami.

Well, Enies Lobby has been over for awhile now, in both the manga and anime. Some filler after that in the anime I think. Manga is good of course!

+ Show Spoiler +I've always more or less liked the Naruto manga, but the anime for some reason just doesn't do it for me, especially all the filler obviously. Latest stuff is pretty good, lot's of tension/anticipation with this whole Pain thing.

The Chuunin exam arc was awesome and when you first saw Itachi along with Kisame going after Naruto and Itachi raping Sasuke. Then, when the Shippuuden started Naruto started to suck hardcore. The eps became boring and they just dragged everything out like hell. Too bad because I really enjoyed watching Naruto ...
It was the same thing with Bleach, really good in the beginning but then it started to suck, the manga is decent.
The Naruto manga is awesome, especially now! So much interesting stuff going on.

what made naruto fucking shity was the million filler arcs after Sasuke elopes with Orochimaru (at least thats where i remember them starting at)

About One Piece (and...):
I started watching it like 9months or more after 1st time I read or heard about it.
Why?
Because 1st opening totally made me think this anime is for small kids. I almost forced myself to test it and start watching it (if you will check my blog you will see this is not necessarily what I am looking for ). Now I know: you can only love Luffy and his crew... and there is some good dose of blood and violence there... from time to time

If someone can dig into One Piece, I think he should try Lovely Complex even tho there is cursed "love" word in the title...
...and yeah if watching LC on stream sites: start downloading it some time before watching it just to rewind teary scenes (NOT in all episodes). I guess females are into S&M but for me it was annoying.
There aren't that much of them and everything except that is great.
Seiyu playing Nami in OP plays Risa in LC too and totally rocks... imo
TL;DR If you are into Hellsing and Code Geass (especially 2nd season) I think we can talk about trying (rather not recommending) One Piece; don't think about Lovely Complex if you don't like One Piece.
If you like Naruto and Bleach more, you shouldn't have any big problem with watching One Piece too.
+ Show Spoiler [talking about Naruto...] + I have a friend who watched 1st 126 episodes SEVEN TIMES and didn't want to try anything else because he was scared that he would stop fucking loving Naruto as much as he did. He hates Shipuuden as a whole and reads only manga now. Watches other series beside Naruto too . I had read Shipuuden manga and stopped after Jiraya coming to Rain country(?) and fighting his paper student because I had to choose and I prefer anime over manga overall... when "televised" version of manga sux ballz I hope that the more they stretch what happens in episodes, the more they get experience how to make them awesome, which somehow was proven by last episode that had beautiful animations and wasn't annoying to watch for me.

Believe me, except 1st one and last ~5 episodes of Berserk all stuff that happens is actually worse than standard, not bloody fighting One Piece. What really matters is if you like how it looks like, because everything is better in OP.
Maybe I'm biased towards Berserker because last episodes are more (on-going!) manga commercial than cliffhanger.
I forgot to mention Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. This is the series someone should watch before One Piece... if there are problems with 1st episodes
This is like shounen version of Lovely Complex on steroids and rocket fuel.
The biggest reason is: current OP episodes are being made by people who made Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Berserk is not too interesting anymore. But the first part of it is like the coolest thing you could ever expect from a manga. The latest developments are not too special and entertaining though.

I tried the Berserker anime but I didn't like it, maybe I should give it another try?
One anime that my friend told me about is Soul Eater, I've watched the first three episodes and all I can say is that it looks very promising. It's very funny but cool at the same time.
Hellsing is one of the best animes I've ever seen, especially the OVA.

I wouldn't recommend the Berserk anime actually, since the manga is definately better. Everything with the Band of the Hawk is amazing, and while the overall plot declines a bit after that, the art remains amazing.
Claymore is really cool as well IMO, but the end of the anime is OMFG stupid, so stick with the manga there too.
Hunter x Hunter is good up until the "hiatuses" by the author. After that, the art takes a nose dive and the latest arc is shit IMO. The anime is pretty good.
I'm not too familiar with Gantz, though I hear it's interesting.

The vast majority of mangas have really sucky anime counterparts. The anime One Piece, in my opinion, is not as epic as the manga version.
I also enjoyed Eyeshield 21, Hajime no Ippo, Yakitate Japan, Rurouni Kenshin~

Try Psyren. It will be the manga of the future, seriously. I think I have read all the mangas out there actually and I am quite sure One Piece is the best until now, even in its late development.
