I donated blood today at my high school, it took forever though, my appointment time or w/e was suppose to be 12:30 but there were so many people, I started when school was over. But it feels good saving lives, if they do use my blood. It still stings btw.

Any stories of donating blood? Passing out, running around after giving blood which makes you faint? My teacher told us a story once when he played basketball for like 3 hours and then he passed out on the court. lol

When I gave blood a few years ago back in high school, one of the guys giving blood fainted after getting up, and the girl he was with tried to catch him.... Unfortunately, she had also just given blood, and apparently being weaker than usual, she collapsed as well.

It was actually pretty intimidating because at the time I was in line to give blood for my first time.

The first time I donated blood, I was perfectly fine albeit slightly light-headed. I felt good about helping out and potentially saving lives.

The second time I donated blood I hadn't eaten anything for breakfast. I felt fine until I got up. I suddenly got reeeeaaaally light-headed and my vision was covered in black dots. They kept increasing in number really fast until my vision was almost entirely black. I ended up falling to my knees and having to rest in the place where they designated the "unfortunate" kids should go if something bad happened. Apparently I hadn't had enough blood sugar, so I was given some chocolate cookies (they tasted horrible, like they were days old) and sent on my way once I was feeling better.

I'll be less retarded next time D:

I remember giving blood in my senior year. I thought it was a pretty cool experience because not only did I get out of class (I got out of Calculus ), but after I gave blood they brought me over to this little table with some of my classmates and gave us apple juice and cookies. We just got to sit there and talk for a little bit while enjoying snacks. It was kind of a nostalgic feeling from like pre-school or kindergarten or something, it was a pretty cool feeling. That and we were all still a little light-headed.

It was a fairly enjoyable experience.
We cant give up just because things arent the way we want them to be.

I remember in high school the blood giving area was right outside my AP physics C class which would last 3 hours on certain day. We would get breaks every once in a while and we went out and ate a butt ton of the food designated for the blood givers. Good times.

I gave blood for the first time last week. My friend Lee went right after me at the area next to mine, and I was wondering why he was walking away right after I was like halfway done with my first pint, and I later found out they popped his vein or something and he was feeling dizzy etc. Overall it was a pretty cool experience; I was pretty much afraid of needles but I guess I'm over that because they really aren't that bad.

Actually when they pricked my finger before the actual blood drawing, it hurt even more than the actual needle, lol. Oh also my friend Josh passed out after we were chilling and eating oreos that they gave us for giving blood. He stood up to go back to the cafeteria and just kinda fell down again and they took him to the side and had him lay down for about an hour.

Oh and I didn't eat breakfast that morning and I gave 2 pints. Beast-mode.

The first time I gave blood I was with a bunch of friends. This one girl jokingly said "I feel dizzy" and the woman forced here to lie down for ten minutes. Serves here right.

I've given blood every time they have come to my university and gone out of my way a few times. It's no big deal so don't be scared to donate. Plus, I'm type O so it's especially useful to give.

Don't people from the US get paid to give blood?

Yeah I had cookies and drinks too! Everyone was really nice, even the students that volunteered, this jewish kid was pretty cool.

But the thing I hated was this thing where they test your iron levels and this needle and it hits your finger and it starts bleeding real bad and stings for like 10 minutes.

you dont exercise for a few days after donating... otherwise you'll faint. if you drink enough liquids, and eat properly, you should be fine.

dont worry, you came in the thread, so we have you to laugh at instead lolzozlzol

donating blood is like getting high without doing anything, haha. it's trippy. though definitely don't do anything active after. i gave blood and then played lacrosse 3 -4 hours later. i thought i was gonna die on the field. every hit felt like getting smacked with a ton of bricks. noooo fun.

It's not that serious unless you don't eat well normally. I've always done intensive sports after donating because I exercise every day and I've never fainted. Your arm is a little stiff which is frustrating but it goes away after a day.

I've donated blood for years, and best part is drinking after having donated. You'll feel really happy after half a beer. Make sure you drink lots of water beforehand though as alcohol dehydrates you (and you're already lacking liquids from donating).
