What did you all call other people at blizzcon that you met from tl? Did you actually get to know their real name or did you call them by their alias on the website? I just read a blog about ghostclaw and it seemed like they just called him that.

They're not even calling me Ghostclaws that's what they're calling Waterdragon, or just randomly yelling out (some sort of mix up due to a drunken night which I wasn't at) .__.v

I did learn a few real names, though I just used whichever one I remembered at the moment or whichever one was easier to remember/say.

In my experience, it's very common for people to use online handles when meeting IRL. That happened a lot with my campus direct connect hub at college. We actually called one guy 'Admin'.

I tried to call intrigue Jeffry and Hot_Bid Ken when we met up. (Haji's real name pretty much shortens to haji anyway.) But they stuck more to "GI"

I wasn't there, but I have friends in real life who I met through a forum or a game etc, and I 90% of the time stick with their ID.

I tried to use real names but if I didn't know them or didn't think about it I'd use IDs.

If you've been posting for a while (or you don't even have a tl.net id) then they try to call you by your real name. For me it was easier to just remember everyone's tl.net id, because it lets you remember their viewpoints and posts better.

I'm sorry that they have me confused with you. Uhhh...Not sure what to do about it. It could be worse- they could have changed my id already.

I've known an SC friend IRL for like 4 years and when i talk with him on vent i still call him by his b.net ID half the time when i mean to say his real name.

Depends if the name is cool to say like "GHOSTCLAW!!!!!", not something like "eatshitanddie". Or if its shorter than their complete gibberish alias "xXx_312janc341xXx".

actually i got mahnini and xcetron confused for a bit at blizzcon as well.

i tried to call people by their real names, but sometimes its just easier to call them by their TL usernames.
