Learning to Zerg 3 (Image Heavy)

In the 2 months since the last update not much has changed in LeperKahn's camp. I've gotten a little better, raised APM a bit, and learned how to adapt a bit more. However, I don't review what I've done wrong enough, and what better way than to restart the blog?

So, let's kick this iCCup season off with a few well lost games and fun stories of my failure.

My first game is vs. a C- Terran. He actually played pretty badly. I bet he was alt-tabbed the whole game and still won. He starts out with a just plain BRILLIANT sbb and early refinery. I swear I think he made the build order up himself.

A Mistake of the Pros: Scouting and Understanding

He goes and kills my overlord like a jerk which is actually cool because it lets me see the rush ahead of time. I'd post a picture of it, but my defenses were awful and embarrassing. Sadly I didn't expect this:

SCVs are the super early game medic.

Again APM bites me in the ass and between morphing zerglings, cloning drones, and whatnot my sunkens are late like a noob.

Well, they have more health as morphing sunken colonies.

Through a stroke of awesome luck I survive the first attack and assume I'm safe. The terran didn't like that idea though.

Medics this time

That's no surprise. I knew I didn't have a chance.

PvZ comes next. I actually have a chance in this one! He's D+! In the game before this I got two gated and I expected it again. My plan was to 9 hatch, but I ended up 12 hatching. It's cool though because you can still defend from a lateish 2 gate with 12 hatch.

I'm starting to scout on 9 these days and I'm doing much better since then. I scouted this guy's satan build and did my best to react accordingly.

Frequenters of my blog know how I feel about two gate.

I was lucky and the zealot shows up after the pool had morphed. Then 2 more come and this time with probes. I'm ready with bad micro though!

Attack move should be called stupid move.

Then I countered with 4 lings and all of my drones. I always all-in counter 2 gate and I expected it to go well. Anyway, somewhere between D and D+ protosses learn how to build cannons after a failed 2 gate. I didn't know that.

Well, we all know what happens when all in fails.

Finally ZvZ. I'm red.

You've gotta clarify colors. Yeah.

Everyone seems to hate this matchup, but I actually like it. I always seem to be able to tell what I'm doing wrong, but that doesn't stop me from doing it wrong in the first place.

I can haz 12 hatch too plox?

I had 12 pooled which put me behind less than I thought. I assumed I would need to end this game before he could get mutas which was a dumb mistake. He had reacted to me scouting his 12 hatch and made defenses... DEFENSES! In a ZvZ. The nerve!
