Now, I am totally skeptical of this sort of thing (though definitely less than I used to be). And I already know a bit about what science has to say regarding the topic of sleep paralysis. But this was very, very strange.
Anyways, I wake up last night in my hotel room to turn the AC off at 5 am. I go back to sleep at 6 am I hear a strange sound, like someone says "Ritchadooo!" in a funny voice.
I open my eyes and look in front of me and I see some creepy looking ghost/shrouded figure hovering over in front of me, and it slowly starts reaching down and grabs my ankle(I saw it, but didn't feel it)
it then straightens back up. meanwhile im like "woah, what is that, ok calm down, breathe, breathe, breathe, be calm" but I totally kind of started hyperventilating lol.
anyways, it goes like it's going to reach back down again but then I am not sure what happened, and suddenly I am awake.
and the whole room feels freezing ass cold, and I was soooo cold, even though I was under the sheets and blankets. I never get cold while I am sleeping, normally. Even when just under like 1 sheet. Also that room was like, seriously weirdly cold. I had to get up and turn the heater on and leave it on for like 45 minutes, just to warm it up a reasonable temperature. Then I went back to bed.
I have had sleep paralysis happen to me before, but not in a very long time. And I have always woken up tired and confused, but this time I awoke with my mind very clearly and I was very alert.
And my sleeping habits are very patternized, 7-8 hours every night at the same times.
That morning I got up and cried for a while, wasn't even sure why.

Kinda sounds a 1408 moment. Are you sure you didn't dream it?

Yeah I think that was just a natural dream/sleep_paralysis. In fact, I think getting scared by something while being paralyzed like that is common, but it's never happened to me. I think your mind was exaggerating how cold it was because of the circumstances, but you also may have simply overdid it with the AC.

I don't know what a 1408 moment is.
Did I dream it? I know the difference between dreaming and being fully awake, and this was neither.

Reminds me of the lucid dream I had where I swear I thought I was getting attacked by a ghost. In the dream I *woke up* to the sight of a broom floating in mid air. It kept hitting me like someone was swinging it at me and I was scared shitless. Then I woke up *for real* to the sound of myself screaming rasply.
Fucking most terrifying experience of my life. It took me like an hour before I got the courage to get out of bed, and this was in the morning. I called my friend just so I'd have someoen to talk to as I went downstairs to the closet where we keep our broom/mop. AND IT WASN'T THERE. I was about to have a heart attack for a moment before I remembered my mom had been cleaning the bathroom upstairs last night with it, and it was still there.

Yeah, I would think that too.. but normally I am sweaty when I wake up from sleeping, even if it is cold in the room I am sleeping in. And I was seriously like, wrapped up very tight, but my body was like freezing cold and bone dry.
I am a pretty levelheaded guy... I can't say for sure that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me because it was such a strange experience, but seriously I am pretty good about not exaggerating stuff like this.
and I turned the AC off an hour before I re-awoke, and the room didn't seem that cold then and it wasn't that cold outside.

that's creepy, i would have kicked it's ass

FUCK its for sure a ghost. Thank god its a hotel ghost and not your own house ;O!

could be a dream, or just an example of some of the whacked out stuff that you can experience when sleeping or trying to sleep

Ah, 1408 is a movie with John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson. It's pretty trippy and quite entertaining.

1408 is the cell number of the ghost that was murdered... and came back to haunt YOU travis, YOU!!! great grandson of the man who murdered him!!
his name was Ritchadoo

Or you could try finding out the history of the room you were given rent to(not from the hotel management, of course).

Wait so... you fell asleep, something happened, and then you woke up?
I think I know the answer.

And ur eyes are open but ur body cant move. I hate it when it happens. Usually i feel extremely comfortable and light, and my head hurts before i sleep and the sleep paralysis will happen when i sleep. And i always see this human-shaped silloute, like a shadow. It always happens at around 3 am, and i always awoken when it happens.

Room 1408 and floor 13 are not included in some American hotels because people are superstitious. I know this because I read some Stephen King books, where this is par for the course.

it's actually kind of common to see a person standing by your bed or even sitting on top of you when you're under the effects of sleep paralysis, it's sometimes called Old Hag Syndrome or something like that
i'd give you a link but google turns up a bunch of paranormal websites and well you know

Ghosts and spirits are for cowards.

Now I don't want to sleep.

It is 5:45 in the morning and I have just woken from another dream.
I was in a spaceship, I believe, with 3 other people. We were running from alien spiders. They were going to eat us. I have always had a fear of spiders.
One guy committed suicide. The other one died, by accident, somehow.
It was down to me and another, and we were trapped.
We began to have a conversation, I will start from when I can remember
Me: "... but I am afraid. what do I do?"
Other: "....But you chose this... there is nothing to be afraid of"
Then I know that the spiders are almost there. I hear a noise, and I wake up.
now it is like 2 minutes later and I am typing this. I left out a lot of the conversation, I wish I could remember it.
|
and yes I know that sleep paralysis is not dreaming but I thought it was relevant.
back to bed I go, lol
|
I had many cases of sleep paralysis, and before I found out it was actually a sleeping condition, I thought I was being attacked by Satan (no joke).
The first time I've ever experienced it, I was lying in my bed and heard glass breaking and my mom screaming, and a few seconds later I tried to move but couldn't. I don't remember how long it took me before I woke up, but I was terrified during the hallucinations.
Now, I know the exact feeling that rushes towards me before I become paralyzed and wake up at will when it comes.

There is nothing "obvious" about it.
science and spirituality don't conflict unless you arbitrarily decide they do.

well yes, but clearly if something is happening to you there is going to be a scientific basis to it
but that doesn't change what is happening
and says absolutely nothing about the nature of the experience

You don't have to resort to this you know. =\

Seriously, I think I've had something like this.
I used to wake up frequently during the night and I would always get a drink of water or go to the bathroom before going back to bed. One night I was about to get a drink of water but SOMEBODY WAS FUCKING IN MY KITCHEN. I thought it was my dad and I was like "Dad?" He/she/it didn't say anything and I saw it pass by me and it sort of blended in with the darkness.
Fucking creepy as hell, I didn't expect shit like that to happen at ALL

and it wasn't that scary guys
well it was pretty scary, during the moment ,and a little scary afterwards
but for me it seemed more profound than anything else. which is why i apply spiritual basis to it beyond the scientific explanation

why do you think it's spiritual? Sleep paralysis is really common and you've made it apparent throughout the topic you know about it so im really wondering why you'd put it down to something supernatural in some way

because I think all of life is spiritual, and that science explains how[materially], but has nothing to say about why[spiritually]

equinox your story is certainly scarier than mine, as you weren't under the effects of sleep paralysis
then again I have had similar things happen to me actually, while doing something just like getting water, while half awake
and I just ignored it lolol. I think it's happened when I was horribly horribly tired but got up to go to bathroom or get water or w/e
are you sure that you didn't dream it?

I think ghosts exist and move amongst us. I personally have never been able to attribute some odd occurrence to a ghost or something but your story sounds damn trippy. Thanks for sharing with us.. kinda cool to hear about. I know you wouldn't just lie/make it up too.
Keep us informed if more happens!

I have sleep paralysis like every second week or something but most people only have it once or twice in their lives. In nearly every culture it's referred to as "a ghost/demon sitting on you". I personally believe some of it has to do with demons because I was dreaming once(i remember like the full dream no problem) and It was just a casual dream and then out of no where i said I rebuke it in the name of the Lord Jesus for no apparent reason(think the Holy Spirit was guiding me on this one) and then I was out of the dream but I still couldn't move and I was kinda awake in sleep paralysis and these 2 large heads were around my bed and then they were screaming and shaking then they disappeared and I woke up fully.
Also did your neck/throat area feel weird? like numb?

When i was in elementary school i had a friend from canada that one day slept at his grandma's house. That night they were sleeping downstairs, and then they heard kids laughing and the sound of marbles hitting each other upstairs. So the grandma went up and checked it out, no one was there but mysteriously there were marbles laying around. Then when she went downstairs, she heard little boys laughing and playing basketball. So then she went up again to check it out, and a basketball was lying on the floor. So then she went w/e and went back to sleep downstairs, and then felt a tugging on her quilt, like it kept moving down as someone was dragging on it. THen she said something alone the lines of "fuck off, or leave me alone". And then there was no more.
The next morning she went upstairs again, and witnessed a pool of blood, later to find that it came from horses.
|
errr what?
yangpan that story is really weird.
like, they tested the blood and it was horse blood?

I remember one time, I had a friend over and we were in the basement playing SNES (Super Mario World woot) and it was pretty late, like 2 AM. Anyways we couldn't beat this one level, I forget which but at that time it was impossible . So he was like "lets go play Chrono Trigger!". So we run upstairs to my room which was where it was at and before we get to my room we hear something. It was probably the most eerie sound ever. It was coming from my sisters room and I realized she was singing, but she was sleep singing. But i couldn't tell what she was singing, but it was something and it scared the shit out of me cause I was like ten at the time. Anyways I got the game and went back donestairs. The next morning at breakfast she was eating her cereal and she started singing the same melody and I asked her what she was singing and she said she honestly didn't know how she knew it. On another note, my cousins sleep with their eyes open and its hella creepy.
