Decent I could say. Close family, and relatives came for a small barbecue in my backyard. It was good, but to be honest I would of rather wanted to spent it with my girlfriend at Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.

I got about $190, and 2 nice collar shirts. However, that night I spilled Kool Aid on one of them by accident.

However, my best gifts were from my girlfriend.

She gave me 2 philosophy books, and a CD. One of them is a big book of biographies of almost all the big western philosophers. I read Søren Kierkegaard first of course since I absolutely love the man. The other book was The Stranger by Albert Camus. The third, and Final gift was The Strokes- First Impressions Of The Earth.

I already have the album on my computer, but I knew it had sentimental meaning, since we'd spend so much time listening to it together.

I also ordered myself some books from Amazon a couple of days ago as presents.

They were..
Slaughterhouse-Five
Beyond Good and Evil
Fear and Trembling

As you can tell I have a keen interest in Philosophy. I'm thinking of majoring it, but for some reason. I have a certain theory that if you make anything your profession at one time, or another you'd hate it.

Well it went well. My birthday passed like all the others do.

Thanks to those that wished me a good day.

EDIT
I completely forgot, my girlfriend made me a HOME BAKED carrot cake.

It was fucking delicious

Just a side note, if you're interested in philosophy, and don't care about actually working using your degree, then major in it. Seriuosly. People that read philosophy but have not studied it are the worst and most annoying species of people on earth. Seriously.

I'm being dead serious. Philosophy is like chess perhaps, in that you can learn all the rules by yourself, but unless you actually sit down and study it for hours on end, and preferably have someone to guide you, you'll never get past the basics. People who read philosophy are like people who go through games by Kasparov and Fischer without ever having sat down to understand chess.

Haha, you can disagree with me now, but I promise you that after four years of studying philosophy you won't disagree with me anymore. I used to "read" philosophy as well, and you think you get it, but really, almost everything just goes straight over your head and you don't even notice it.

With that said, I love philosophy and studying it is absolutely amazing. Philosophy is my third major, not because I need it, but because it is so interesting and challenging. I've enjoyed every single semester so far, and every semester has bended and broken my mind at various times, but in the end you overcome and it really changes the way you understand the world. So don't worry about studies killing your passion for it, if you have a real passion it won't die, only grow.

And that Strokes album is quite decent, although "This Is It" will always be their best I'm glad to here you enjoyed your birthday, and it's always nice to get some presents you were really looking forward to. And don't take my criticism personally, it's just one of my pet peeves. Happy b-day!

Philosophy is a luxury I can't afford. I'm too busy trying to keep my family and myself fed. No time to worry about the point of life. Damn I'm poor.

Of course, I didn't take it personally. I actually have taken 2 classes in philosophy. I took Intro. To Philosophy my first semester in College, and Intro To Ethics the following.

I enjoyed both classes immensely. I'd like to study it, but I'm still unsure about what to major/minor in.

I find your tone of philosophy being like chess mildly elitist, but that's just my opinion. I enjoy reading it, and as long as you get something out of it, either huge, or small, it's a good thing in my opinion. Don't take it personally though.

Note like I've explained. I do enjoy studying it, and there's a good chance I might major, or minor on it.

Thanks for your opinion though. Even though it was irrelevant to the original post/blog.

Maybe that's like saying you go through famous starcraft games without ever knowing a build order? I know a few kids who do that and they're like...Savior has 2 defilers, he has a chance (2 hatch zerg versus 5 base terran) or what's so special about Boxer versus Pusan (Game 3, RoV) - he wasn't that behind...

Happy belated.

Happy B-day... The Stranger is quite good...

And I slightly disagree with Daigomi. I think that some people take away different things from the same words. Intelligence, perspective and ect. is all very relative to the understanding a person will take away from the words.

At the same time though, I don't wholly disagree. Obviously truly studying something takes all of the information to another level... Like the difference between your average iccup player and a professional player. Totally different levels, same game.

Because that's what she gave me... What the hell are you getting at?

You misspelled Philosophy.

if you're all going to get uppity about spelling, you should probably write "shouldn't have" instead of "shouldn't of"

This man speaks the truth! Pursue a degree in Philosophy you wont regret it.
On the subject of Kirk. if you are really interested in his writings then you should also read his non-Pseudonymous works (i.e. Works of Love).
