hahaha, Great post. I was brought up on his movies too. Me and all my friends still consider him a hero.

Some more for the real fans!
Dear god I love how the music pumps the shit out of you, while you see him doing his thing.
|
great post man he is an amazing guy

I had to go count my DVDs to accurately reply...
I've got 18 of his movies on DVD currently, and I'm aming at acquiring every single one. Strangley though, he keeps spitting them out in a much more rapid rate than you'd imagine. I guess he wants to make sure that current and future generations of kids need to have some proper action on their video store shelves.
And BTW, that kickboxer final fight is so bad. The one from bloodsport is a classic though.
My favourite movies are double team and knock off since they both have a retarded storyline that makes you go WTF every five minutes. Both are directed by Tsui Hark, a legend in action films.

I watched No Retreat, No Surrender the other day. A guy gets trained by the ghost of Bruce Lee to beat Van Damme. Recommended.

i heard van damme had some beef with steven segal on a show and segal owned him

i just noticed that Yamma pit fighting mat was modelled after Kumite's. WAR KUMITE!

no offense intended, but those fighting clips of him looks really unrealistic and bad. =O
Perhaps I was spoiled growing up, watching Jet Li movies ( Once upon a time in China series anyone?) but these old american fight movies pales in comparision to their hong kong martial arts counterparts.

First of all Eastern Martial Arts is different from Full Contact/Mixed Martial Arts. So comparing patrons of both fields together is disgracefull, and unkind good sir. I say you have insulated myself, my mother, my grandfather, McDonalds, Seth green, the guy that delivered my pizza today, and that dude from the show Cousin Skeeter.
Never utter those words again of Van Damm not being epic, or I will be forced to jump kick your ass.
That's all I have to say.
Now enjoy this video.

his guile speech is probably the best speech i've ever heard.

Fucking bloodsport kicks ass.
But, alas, you can't compare him to Sly in Demolition Man. It's just impossible.

Three words: that was classic.
If you were to look up awesomeness in the dictionary, you'd probably find a picture of him beside it.
Man, I saw that Breakdancing movie a lonnnnnng time ago and I never realized he was in it. ROFL
On another note: they should have casted V.D. for Starship Troopers. It would have been that much better with him in it.

I barely found that out yesterday. I'm addicted to that video of him dancing. It's just that good.

That would have been the best movie ever!
I read somewhere that the two first picks for the movie "Demolition Man" were Van Damme and Steven Seagal, but it didn't work out because they both refused to play the bad guy. I can't back that up though, you might be able to read about it somewhere like IMDB. Anyway, just imagine what an "incredible" movie that would have been.
