This is basically the upper side of this.
x = 6
y = 12
L1 = 12"
L2 = 10"
To find theta1, law of cosine again right? Then +90 to it? How about theta2?

x = L1cos theta 1 + L2 cos (something that is not theta 2t) y = L1 sin theta 1 + L2 sin (some angle that is not theta 2) 2 equations, 2 unknowns The "angle that is not theta 2" is an angle that the second arm makes with the horizontal (so draw an imaginary line going in the x direction, starting at the "start" of arm 2) From this "angle that is not theta 2," you can find theta 2 I'm assuming x and y are the end coordintaes of the arm (the coords of where L2 is pointing to)

Please explain what the hell is going on in this picture. Edit: rofl what is Theta two? It's like I have a line segment terminating in another line. But now imagine if that line continued, what would that angle be? 180. Thats the definition of a line. --;; You really need to put some effort in explaining what the hell youre trying to do. Or draw a proper diagram. This is really frustrating because the actual problem is like some stuff tons of people here could solve if we were given proper background.

Theres something you aren't explaining properly. For example, you have given us a picture similar to this: It's not possible to solve without relating X and Y to it somehow. If it's a robot arm, shouldn't X=Y=R since the arm is constant length? Basically WHAT ARE X AND Y? In your diagram they are just fucking arbitrary lengths that don't relate to a goddamn thing.

but i wouldnt expect you to understand it. R is the faded line.

And is there anything wrong with my solution? I only assumed I knew what the question was because I've taken a robotics course and have done this stuff, so I can semi-guess what the question is asking, but I don't really know myself
