Hey guys! I know this is mostly a Starcraft site, but I figured I'd write here in case there were a few fighting game players who could help me out.
TLDR I downloaded Fightcade the other day and I learned that playing fighting games on a keyboard sucks, so I decided to look for a fightstick. I'm thinking of either the Qanba Drone or the Hori RAP 4, would anyone be able to give me some advice?
On an unrelated topic, I'll be writing about my college experience sometime next week, since I've been here about a month.
Hopefully someone can help!

I've been a tournament fighting game player since 2004.
HRAP has been my go-to since the HRAP 1 on PS2 and I continue to use the HRAP 4 now. I like the shape. Fits well in my lap. Stock buttons and stick it comes with are perfect good.
When your stick and buttons inevitably go bad from wear, it's easy to open the box and quickly replace them with new parts.
It has no input lag and works great plug-and-play by USB in both PC and PS4.
I have never played on a stock Qanba Drone, but the criticism I have heard from my contemporaries is that they really like the shape and how it sits in their lap, but the stock parts were garbage. They replaced the stick and buttons with higher grade parts and are happy with it.
Hope this helps.

RAP4 is great, RAP Hayabusa too, Hori Edge is said to be very good too, the only stick i can vouch for personally is Hayabusa though
No idea about Qanba, never used it.
Note that it also depends on the size of your wallet, from the above I think Edge is the most expensive
Good luck!

Depends on what game you play I think.
to be totally honest, I feel what kind of stick you use really doesn't mean all that much; proficiency in fighting games is about practice more than what stick you use.
Ironically, I don't wholly agree that keyboards are bad; I'm a keyboard Tekken 7 player and I've hit Mighty Ruler in the Asian(non Japan) server, worked out alright although I do admit it took 2000 games to get there

Not ironic at all. It has become pretty clear that the Hitbox is the best controller for Street Fighter and many other games (probably most, really). That's more or less a glorified keyboard with more sensitive buttons. I've seen people come to tournaments with keyboards rigged with controller PCBs to play on, so it's done.
People just use whatever they're used to. For people like me and older who got started on arcade games in the arcade era... it's going to be on an arcade stick. For modern console kids, it's going to be a normal pad controller. In the end, it doesn't matter as long as you can execute what you need to execute.

I use a Hori RAP 4 and it works well. No idea if it's better than the Qanba Drone tho because I never used that one.

My qanba was sick and though it was a bit annoying to change the parts out it lasted a long time playing marvel 3 and skullgirls. It wasn't a drone tho it was some ice themed one maybe?
My friend used a hrap4 and liked it
