Warhammer 40000 Adeptus Titanicus reboot

Jukado 805 Posts August 08 2018 21:44 GMT #1 A reboot of Adeptus Titanicus is being released in a couple of days. The previous editions use 6mm scale models. This new version is using 8mm scale models. It does not include rules for units other than titans. So there are no tanks or infantry or aircraft. The box game costs $290/£175 which includes 2 big titans and 6 small knights. The warlord titan model stands at 13.3cm tall. If you buy one of these models individually it costs $110/£65. If you want to just buy the rules it costs $60/£35. ------------------------------------- Its played on a 4x4 foot board: Warlord titans look like this nowadays: Warlord titan and 2 Warhound titans in the back (they havent finished making the warhound models yet): Emperor class (Imperator) titan (the one with the city on its head) (they havent committed to making this model yet but might make it if the starter box sales are good enough) and the smaller Reaver titan (they plan to release a model of this next): These are all the models you get in the box: The warlord titan looks quite cool in this picture (although you cant see how oversized the shoulder guns are at this angle): Stat trackers: + Show Spoiler + ------------------------------------- The new look Warlord titans have been around for a while (in 28mm scale kits that cost $1665/£1293). I would say I probably prefer the look of the previous warlord titans, though they are not perfect either. ------------------------------------- If you want to get a feel for how the original Adeptus Titanicus plays you can watch this video. You might think its clunky and quite boring. The new rules play differently though: Perhaps a more interesting video next. If you want to see how one of the versions of Epic: Armageddon plays you can watch this video: Personally I prefer having the full spectrum of units like in the second video. The game still has a lot of dice rolling and annoying rules in my opinion though. I hope this new Adeptus Titanicus game succeeds and that it gets more people interested in smaller scale tabletop wargaming and strategy games in general. They say they are going to release Reaver class titans and then Warhound class titans at a later date. Possibility of the bigger Emperor (probably Imperator) class titan in the further future too. Then again Epic 40000 3rd edition was canned after 6 months due to lack of sales. We shall see. By the way, on Sunday its the 12th day of the month so expect another Star Tale blog. Ill be talking more about Star Tale: Ground Wars and how it differs from this new Adeptus Titanicus edition. But for a quick sneak peak: Star Tale: Ground Wars uses a 3mm scale (very cheap, easy to store, looks great and allows massive battles). No luck. Includes Infantry, Tanks, Mechs, Aircraft etc. Star Tale does have 'titans' as well, they are called Archons. And ofcourse the best thing is that Star Tale is completely public domain which means its free and you can do whatever you want with it.
