This is of course supremely excellent. As most world leaders pull up their roots and run with a few cursory attempts to secure immortal heavenly glory, the best game of all time goes down in ignominious flames.

For most fans of PC gaming this is a win that will go down in the record books, given the relative level of programming skill required for WoW, HotS and even to a lesser extent Hearthstone and the latest first person shooter, Overwatch--this can only represent a great thing.

I'm especially happy regarding the death of StarCraft because the utter crash and burn, down-in-flames failure of StarCraft ensures the success of HotS. It also ensures there will be no successor to DotA 2 or Warcraft 3: TFT.

The second best game of all-time, Total Annihilation died with the failure of Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander 2. So for us RTS fans out there the future is brimming with possibility.

As we boldly transcend back into a golden era of Checkers and Chess, we can look forward to a future completely bereft of thought in videogames.

This happy transition marks the waste of probably 20 to 30,000 hours of StarCraft map editing, playing and viewing time. Personally I am all for making this transition away from academically inclined gaming and look forward to a new dark age where there really is nothing to be gained from video gaming.

It will be a pleasure to see gaming ostracized and shunned as a waste of brain power, and at least for me that's probably what it will be. Bravo Blizzard and good luck with Diablo IV. I look forward to once again facing down the Butcher, divesting the Lord of Terror, and the Prime Evils.

It seems like a supreme story-line and I can't wait to see how the arc unfolds.

don't ask me about the post-script.

Can someone explain chess to me. How do you keep moves memorized, is it like an incantation you sing yourself to sleep with?

Anyway, the only sin starcraft ever committed was the meaninglessness of the games. This insufficiency's derivative, fractaled influence can be traced back to its roots. Traced from where, and what's wrong with the roots?

4 1, even if we could timetravel back and try to unwind the processes involved in its conception we couldn't because nobody kept a log of the highlights of development, marked by their respective stardates. Therefore nobody feels entitled to take it steps further than the original rts style.. into an eve online type setting, or a forum mafia like accessibility, or a bannon mafia like narrative preservation. I can sense this from the way you enumerated your hours of involvement with the phenomenon, 0P. Even if you'd put your whole IQ spectrum to work on setting your mind to recalling what each game you've played or witnessed meant to you .. you couldn't do it, and it's because of the ro0π§. They are unwhole¥.

Farewell
Dear friend, in my heart you crawled into once,
and for the best and ever you changed me.
"blings speedlings", I was in the audience
"bat a roach bat a roach" still is funny!

Watching a stream here and there with YoGo,
wondering if I could save the zerg swarm.
won my first game, then we played in duo,
and started practicing up to self-harm.

The pro scene I quickly became fond of,
"terran op, protoss easy, zerg stupid"
the weak but neat zergs I was a part of,
being the villain and showing my greed

Even if those days we talk less and less...
I still love you. Farewell Starcraft, God bless.

Have you ever had a nightmare, where whatever came up with that sick torturing shit had to pause for a minute because you've reached the limit of your anguish?
Cause it's not efficiently traumatizing anymore, if you just keep sailing on that maximum level of insane pain where your perceptions get sore, until no one is left to perceive, you loose the susceptibility for encore. That's bad torture administration right there.

Whatever is a master at what he does though. So, it gave me a brake.

Now I don't know if despite its proficiency even the master made a mistake, an error releasing the knot of terror he tied my soul down to hell with too abruptly, or if it was part of his plan to test or measure whatever the relevant parameter in souls be.
My soul slingshot outta there like someone who almost drowned grasping for air, to a place where dream-me in its entirety has always been, I was keen on watching the movie of me playing with loosing reassurance of my identity.. So I found my way back to its trap but it was worth all of that.

I had the most torturing dream last night, when I woke up proleague died but that's alright.

I was actually pretty good at Brood War. I had wins against most USA national finalists, played some Korean pros, and had participated against a variety of WCG winners from other countries.

I ordinarily don't post memes because we're not supposed to. But I want to make an exception in this post and include terrorist cat, the evil cat who chases invisible dogs.

Terrorist cat was not as privileged as his colleague grumpy cat (who many of us know and love). While grumpy cat made millions trying to kill its best friend Joan of Arc, terrorist cat discovered the national consciousness the hard way. The tragic story of terrorist cat follows terrorist cat as it makes over ten billion dollars only to find that the international worth of its holdings is something like one grand.

Terrorist cat is a victim of a phenomenon called hyper-inflation when it discovers that its double-A rated treasury holdings are actually junk bonds.

Thus while grumpy cat is merely a millionaire, grumpy cat is also regarded as a saint in the tradition of Ebnezer Scrooge. Grumpy cat's relentless psychopathy hell bent on the utter destruction of Joan of Arc leads him on perilous adventures and ultimately finds Joan of Arc canonized by the Roman Catholic church. In the mean time the small isle of Elba profits enormously from their mutual antagonism and becomes a robust capitalist paradise.

Terrorist cat living far away in Burma makes billions in the gem trade buying and selling primarily fake rubies and diamonds. Unfortunately the Burmese economy collapses under the pressure of its own disingenuousness leaving terrorist cat virtually penniless despite arguably being somewhat more authentic than either Joan of Arc or Grumpy Cat.

Nevertheless, terrorist cat is a brilliant figure in literature as the export of its archetype (if not its actual business model) saves Elba and the operations of Grumpy cat and Joan of Arc from corruption of the Roman Catholic church. Bravo terrorist cat.

Wait, I got it.. it's musical in nature, right? The shortcut to understanding and excelling (via [musical memory × timing mnemonics]²) @ chess: + Show Spoiler [octaves] +

. Figures, why would you call them that when there's just 7 consisting elements, hence chess is the symbol for the traumatic fractalization in the root of the european system for musical notation. Similarly the zodiac disregards its estrangement from astronomical truth. Once it was the territory of the constellation in which the sun resides (optically as seen from earth, or rather deduced unless total eclipse) that gave newborns their sign, now it's + Show Spoiler [the one] +

Astrology works in mysterious ways
Astrology as a science, no way hose. But there are various ways for something to work not just per se, so let's take a moment and play, with this concept and its origins and its implications.

Signs are portions of the sky our sun seems to travel through like stations. They are territories belonging to the stellar constellations. The system was established in ancient Rome about 2000 years ago. The dates that we know of today were accurate then and its popularity started to grow, because it was fascinating to envision where the sun was resting in the skies at the time you first saw the light of day with your own eyes.

So why do I feel like Astrology is the purest symbol for the unspeakable thing,
that is responsible for all that is wrong with our world and that infests every human being?

We'll get back to that but first let us investigate, how the passing of seasons correlating with the time of birth could imbue a person with an innate susceptibility for a certain character trait. Nourishment is a factor and so is warmth and photoperiod-length, for developing the organism at that critical early stage and gaining strength. In late August they were in abundance even for the poor, so to bear a leo child might have had its allure. Maybe those proper conditions as a new-born ensured a healthy appetite for sex when they grew mature. Isn't promiscuity what they say about leos, I'm quite sure. Now you might go "wait a minute, early July to late August is the dateframe for leo".
Well, yes .. but no.

What the zodiacists still fail to consider and what the romans didn't know was that the moon's gravitational pull causes earth's velocity around the sun to slow. But the dates, they're still accurate right? Not so.
The system no longer applies to astronomical fact.. in fact it's so outdated, that during 2000 years a full month of lag accumulated. If you're shaking your head incredulously in your chair, download stellarium or some other planetarium software. If you set the time of your birth you'll see
The sun wasn't where you expected it to be.
Now set the date to 0 instead of say.. 1989, and you'll see that the zodiac system worked just fine at that time.
Now I might be exaggerating about being ignorant about this fact, but as I said it's more of a symbolic abstract of a pattern for something unspeakably adapted to counteract and corrupt and hijack the sound application of an intellectual artifact like the zodiac.
You can't just rip it out of it's original context like that and apply it to a world that has changed and act like it's still relevant .. like it isn't whack! Well .. you can and you do. You'd be a fool not to, because getting laid with "Astrology works", has its perks. You make it work and before you knew the unspeakable parasite has found a host in you.
which precedes it.

I shall jeditate on this further.

I think the death of StarCraft in S. Korea can only be a good thing. This in the same sense that the death of football in the southern United States could only be a good thing or the death of soccer in Western Europe could only be a good thing. Of course StarCraft isn't as old as the other traditions but it's ashame to see it go.

Total Annihilation was infinitely better than Starcraft 1. TA was the first 3D RTS game, 3D terrain, had real LoS, physics, was moddable/still playable from the CD today (can we say the same for SC1/BW?), multiple waypoints, 200+ unit selection and grouping, better unit pathing, all in 1997? A year before SC1 came out. Admittedly, the SC/BW campaigns were amazing and TA's was pretty terrible.

In all seriousness though, if I played SC before TA it would have been my favourite game of all time. SC will always have a special place in my bunker-rushed heart.

lol TA was good but it was not better than SC1. The soundtrack was arguably better, and the games did last a lot longer. 1v5 computers could last 6 hours or so. watching the T2 anti air fighter zone on patrol was probably more fun than watching wraith micro. I dunno I reinstalled SC1 recently and it is still pretty fun.

even SC2 isn't necessarily that bad. the map editor is better than the SC1 editor (maybe even by far). the game itself shows probably too much strategic bias (and maybe too much effort on the part of the developers). there are not many random elements in SC2 compared to SC:BW. maybe Blizzard has become too corporate. most of BW;s successful evolution was really spontaneous luck which we really can't rely on.
