"Champions aren't made made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have inside of them a-desire, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill." - Muhammad Ali
Day 14
This was days 14's objective:
I ended up spending most of the day either at school or revising for the exam I had the next day. The days exercise regime was fairly light which was a good thing considering I was really tight for time. The squats were no trouble at all and every time I do them I feel less pain than before. The press- ups were still difficult but I managed to complete each set to the full and without any half push ups.
The shadow boxing actually proved the most difficult, for one my hand co ordination is awful and second keeping those moves up for five minutes at a time was challenging. It proved quite the endurance activity but proved no real problem.
I didn't really play much Starcraft 2, I was really tired after another bad night of sleep, The games I played were pure fails and not representative of my current form so I won't report on them.
Day 15
Wednesday was the day of my first school exam and the last day of school EVER, the school had been my second home for 7 years. The day was quite emotional as it would be the last time our entire year group would be together and even the teachers had been a big part of my life.
After all the formalities had ended, we rushed down the local pub. I had time for a quick double JD before I had to run off to get to my exam on time. The alcohol took the edge off my nerves a little bit. The exam was a retake, I hadn't failed I just wanted to improve my grade. I had achieved a overall B last year and was looking to reach a A grade this year and the paper would be the easiest way to attain marks. The paper ended up being the hardest one I had seen, I have no idea how well I have done, but I think I should have improved on my past grade. But I will have to work extra hard to make sure my next two economics exams go well if I hope to achieve the A.
After the exam I went back to the pub for another JD. Then went to the local park a good 75% of our year group was there mostly playing a self invented game known as "Volley-bounce".
Volley bounce if basically a team game of tennis where you use a huge ball and your bodies as rackets!
Here is a little taste of the action:
After a happy, sad and grueling day I didn't play any Starcraft 2 or complete any exercise. As previously mentioned exam days would be the ONLY break I would have from exercise. In the evening I went to play mtg for the first time in a month and cleaned up winning the event going 4-0!!!! It was also nice to see all the lads again.
For those of you who want to keep up with the program here is what exercise should have been done on day 15:
Day 16
After a day of break from the regime I was eager to get back into the swing of things, although I had technically broken the schedule it was out of my control and Neila does recommended taking at least 1 day a week off.
With school all said and done and my next exam a whole two weeks away I had a fairly relaxing day, the days exercise only consisted of 5 minutes of intense work!!!
This was day 16's fitness objective:
I got up fairly early and blasted through the exercises. Although fairly simple they were all stress positions which I had struggled with in the past. Although each set only consisted of a single minute of exercise the routine was surprising tiring. However I was able to complete each routine.
After spending most of the day relaxing and doing MTG stuff. I started to play some Starcraft I played a total of 11 games going 5-1-5. Thats right I got a draw!!!. I played some really good games and some really bad ones, at least four of the losses were due to miss reading what the opponent was doing. But overall I played really solid.
During a ZvZ game I accidently missed my 10th overlord due to reading the chat and hence was forced to 10 pool. My opponent also 10 pooled and although my opponent had a serious advantage, I was able to score a vital runby. In the end I became trapped in my base with 8 lings, 2 banes and 0 drones. He had about 16 lings and 0 drones. As a result he couldn't attack me and I couldn't attack him so we had probably one of the fastest draws ever the countdown began at the 8 minute mark!
Starcraft Summary
Vs Zerg (1-1)
- Continue to improve creep spread.
- Improve early-game overlord positioning to see two base ling all ins.
Vs Protoss (3-2)
- Further benchmark practice.
- Learn how to properly defend a 2 gate.
- Learn how to identify every build/all in.
- Improve defense was gateway pressure.
Vs Terran (1-2)
- Improve queen positioning to prevent run-bys.
- Be more careful when taking engagements.
Most of my remaining problems with hopefully go away after I spend a few more days grinding ladder/customs. I can then focus on scouting and working out how to respond to stuff.
