PS Very good to know all of those former results and especially the potential of players bro! TY and Flash are not the best terrans. I am pretty sure you knew very little about TY's results before the SPL. There is not a sudden influs in skills. Tell me what player did not deserve the Code S slot. Every player who has qualified did well in other events or prelims. I actually did follow TY for a long time before SPL. Nice assumption.
Your statement "Tell me what player did not deserve the Code S slot. Every player who has qualified did well in other events or prelims." confuses me. Isn't it logical that IF (HYPOTHETICALLY) something is wrong with certain matchups, say X beats Y 95% of the time, it is LOGICAL for X to have better results in events or prelims than Y and, following your logic, X players are better than Y players and deserve Code S placement more than Players of Y? That's pretty flawed logic when considering racial balance.
And I can point out which people in last gsl season would probably have been favorites, if that makes you happy.

Well, this thread got off to a bad start...

Add them to our 3 terrans + top SPL perfomers Flash and TY and you will get 13 Terrans in Code S. I beg you pardon? Taeja, Bomber, sure. Jjakji, Polt, Perhaps MMA, ForGG, YoDa, MVP, Never. Top SPL Performers Flash and TY both lost in qualifying. Flash went 0-2 vs P and 1-2 vs Bravo, TY went 0-4 vs P. Meanwhile, do you consider half the players that qualified through Code A REALLY Code S level players???? SPL is a bad example because THE BEST OF THE BEST terrans fight B/C/D - Teamer Protosses, Warer.com is an Invitational in which the sample size is low and the Protosses competing are indeed of a lower level compared to the terrans. Lol when you say Jjakji is "perhaps" code S level when he was in the ro8 last season

It's a bit saddening most players in the trailer are out already, and other than that, it isn't really THAT good of a hype video and a lost of discussion on the most important part, the matches, is already done on multiple threads.

Code S will be won by the Terran or Protoss who figures out how to beat Zerg on Daedalus Point. If noone figures it out then a zerg wins.
Still looking forward to all the games played on every other match. Lots of good players!

Also all of you saying you're not hyped for this tournament don't make much sense. If you hate protoss and zerg, then the only three matchups you like are TvP, TvZ, and TvT. Since you are claiming that the first two are broken then you only like TvT, which means you're not gonna be satisfied without a repeat of 2011. C'mon guys, I wanted Flash, TY, and Inno to get in too, but approach this season with at least a partially open mind, seeing as we have 32 of the best players in the world set to square off for your enjoyment.

There are only 3 protoss players Panic, Ruin, MyuNgSiK that may seem to be lucky ones.
Panic played vs Cure and won 2-0, Cure loses a lot TvP before the patch and won a lot of TvPs after the patch link + Panic's best matchup before and after the patch is PvT so it is again not about balance.
Ruin advanced by beating Sleep twice and faced 0 terrans so your point about PvT is not relevant.
MyuNgSiK's best matchup before and after patch is PvT and he played very little games to judge his level but if you saw his games in summer vs INoVation he played a unique style which nobody played back then and almost won also he beat FanTaSy 2-0 and has no other results. In Code A he played vs KeeN who did not show any good results for a long time and loses to protosses before the patch a lot so it is not about balance here again.

Can we take the balance discussion elsewhere? It typically doesn't get anywhere, and there are several threads discussing essentially the same subject right now, I don't think it's fair to pollute this thread with it as well, especially since very little of this has anything to do with the hype video itself.

I feel like this is the first season I will have to replace hype with fake hype. But I will still watch it, hope my boy Maru goes deep this season.
SO GET HYPED!

SO GET HYPED! I'd sososo much love Maru to get Champ. He's the first player I really have SUPERBLY HIGH expectations of. To bad his acchiles heel is Soulkey whom he faces all the time.

Is it just me or most of these players aren't in code S... I never miss GSL but I have to say I'm not too optimistic about this season.

I really can not remember when people enjoyed the game. I am very hyped about this season so much my fav players here I am rooting for Life to make finals and I do not even know who I would like to take the second place... Classic just does not lose, herO can win anyone and can lose to anyone too, YongHwa is solid as usual, TRUE has awesome agressive low tier style, Solar is the new zerg star, RorO's guerilla tactics make me enjoy his play so much, Hydra's eye story make me root for him, Sora is the new fan favorite, SuperNova's mech is the only thing I like about terrans nowdays, Stats's carriers and more, more, more
|
Why would anyone be hyped for this Code S? It's only a tournament with a tiny $150,000+ prize pool and completely unknown players like PartinG, Soulkey, Rain, Maru, Dear, Leenock, Squirtle, Life, SuperNova, RorO, HerO(jOin), DongRaeGu, sOs, Solar, Sora, Curious and Classic.
I certainly don't see any reason why a fan of SC2 would be excited over it.

eww that roro kissing gsl

Not really hyped for this GSL but I will probably stay up to watch Maru get knocked out in the first round.

too bad seed didnt make it

PS Very good to know all of those former results and especially the potential of players bro! You made the Mad Marine fanclub to keep terran whine out of SC2 general forum. Then you bring it here.

I hope Leenock, Maru and SuperNova make it deep. Honestly the map pool is what kills this season for me. Also by the end of it everyone is going to be sick of mirror matchups and PvZ. Hopefully the semi finals -> finals aren't completely dominated by one race but most likely that is gonna happen.
