It's typically through self-discovery and discussion based methods. So saying that he's not well-suited for knowing things just because he hates to listen to a lecture is a bit unfounded, as there are many ways to learn.

So saying that he's not well-suited for knowing things just because he hates to listen to a lecture is a bit unfounded, as there are many ways to learn. While what you're saying is true in many cases, self-discovery is easier about topics which aren't ridden with opinion. If you want to learn about Islam, find yourself a source which at least tries to be neutral. If you try to learn about Islam and all you've got is your interwebs, and you're a regular non-academic fellow who'll just believe the first thing he stumbles upon, odds are you'll end up believing in a bunch of misconceptions and various half-truths. Edit: That said I'm not convinced that Dr. Chris Hewer is necessarily the most neutral. He might be, but he does point out that he'll teach about Islam from the perspective of Muslims. Let's not downplay the importance of an outside eye when it comes down to studying cultures and religions and other human constructs.

The problem with talks is you can't really skim through sections so you're forced to listen to parts that aren't relevant to your interests, and sometimes its very tedious. Most talks I listen to these days are for entertainment, or if they're short and to the point.

Most of the other "problem states" are run of the mill authoritarians. Despite what they put that 12 yo Egyptian kid up to say, none of them, that I can tell, are fascists. Iran might be a special case that requires some investigation. Anyway, thanks for the video. Twas interesting. What? ... You've got me interested in the underlined sentence. If none of them are fascists, what are they? You already said they're run of the mill authoritarians.

Osama was the first Occupy-er: http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0913/p09s01-coop.html I keed, obviously Osama was just trying whatever propaganda he thought would work best against Great Satan George W. Bush and the Legions of Hell aka US Republicans.
