Laptop for entertainment/gaming

Mcdank79 7 Posts July 30 2013 22:56 GMT #1 Hello everybody, I am looking to get a laptop for entertainment and gaming since a desktop isn't a good option for me (otherwise I would buy one due to the better hardware yadda yadda we all know desktops are faster/better for cheaper) so now that thats out there haha. The laptop I'm looking at is at this link: http://www.msimobile.com/level3_productpage.aspx?cid=6&id=402 the price I can get it for is $1400 basic specs: • Windows 8 • Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ Processor • 15.6" Full HD Anti-Reflective Display (16;\ 1920 x 1080) • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 770M 3G GDDR5 • Matrix Display • Cooler Boost 2 • Full Color Programmable Backlit Keyboard by SteelSeries • 1TB HDD • 8GB DDR3L 1600MHz System Memory • Killer™ DoubleShot Technology (Killer™ E2200 + Killer™ Wireless-N 1202) • USB 3.0 x 3, USB 2.0 x 2 • VGA, HDMI, mDP • DVD Super Multi • Built-in 720p HD webcam • World-Class Dynaudio Premium Speakers • Audio Boost Technology I might decide to put in a SSD and extra memory of some sort in the near future. So overall I feel like this laptop fits what I want but I'm curious what the community thinks and if anyone knows of better deals out there. I play all sorts of games and love high quality graphics. I also would use it for lots of movies and shows and I go to school for electrical engineering if that helps. Any input would be much appreciated and please avoid talking about not getting a laptop for gaming...lol

Manik33 18 Posts July 30 2013 23:06 GMT #2 The GTX 770M desktop equivalent is roughly the GTX 660 so it'll do the job you want it do. There's not much need to go beyond 8 GB of RAM for gaming.

Burrfoot United States1176 Posts July 31 2013 02:21 GMT #3 My lame advice: get a lower resolution screen. 1920 on a 16" is terrible - fps and general purpose. I went from a gaming desktop using a 24" LCD @ 1920 to a 17" laptop at 1920 - and it made me cry. My personal recommendation is the Lenovo y410p or y510p for budget gaming.

csikos27 United States135 Posts July 31 2013 08:36 GMT #4 I just got the dragoneyes laptop ge40 MSI and its a bit similar to that but smaller and cheaper. Basically I love it, handles everything i throw at it wonderfully.
