Well the kids trespassed so the man should be fine? Counter-sue for damages! But then again I'm no lawyer and don't really know anything about the law.

Stories like this make me wish we werent so lenient on minors. These kids need reformed so soon in their life? Just what are their parents doing and how can the parents be angry at Jesse Daniels? He put them in a closet, they smashed 40 grand worth of stuff and tons of work and effort.

It was a free kill but the man was merciful and just detained those little fuckers in a closet. These stupid parents should be sued for being retards and fucked up parenting. Ages 9-10 and these little fuckers don't know that this is fucking vandalism?? fuck they deserve a grand spanking.

But yes this pretty much sums this up. Parents should get ALL the punishment, fines etc, and the children should just be sent to Juve or something, educated that what they did is so wrong etcetc.
I always blame the parents in these situations.

I used to throw snowballs at passing cars when i was a kid with my friends, broke a windshield more than once. I'm sure if my parents wouldn't have been scum of the earth and if you spanked me a couple of times i wouldn't have done that... Or more likely i would have turned into a bitter motherfucker who hated society. Not saying vandalism shouldn't be a concern but you guys need some perspective, vandalism are amongst the least evil things kids do to people... Investigating whether the guy should be charged for child endangerment is reasonable, if everything is at it seems he won't get in any trouble.
How about losing faith in humanity for people thinking kids vandalizing property is what's wrong with society?

He's actually being sued for stopping and containing them? What else was he supposed to do, kindly ask the delinquents for their names and information and let them run away?
The parents of those kids should be less worried about their children being reprimanded and forced to wait for the cops, and more worried about the fact that their kids are aggressive, angry jerks who'll end up in jail before they turn 20. What kind of kids do this sort of crap?

At age 9, they don't think the consequences, at such an age kids are often unable to be even as farsighted as to see a couple years forward, so it's very likely that while they sort of realized that it was wrong, they are unable to comprehend the consequences it would cause them except for some trouble now.

Doesn't everyone? I thought so... Even though I was much, MUCH more tame than this, I've ran around toiletpapering and smashing the occasional window with a rock (often accidentally, but not always) if an adult had been mean to me, I considered myself punishing the adults for a revenge of them discliplining me, or sometimes even when I was bored, and I'm fine so far.
I remember getting in trouble for it every once in a while but I wasn't usually caught.

Yes, that would be the case if the parents were not doing their job providing better parenting and discipline.
9year old children pretty much knows that destroying stuff is BAD. Hell even 7-8 yr olds know their mom/grandma would get mad if they even accidentally break their fave vase when playing inside the house.

He chose to be an adult, and just lock them away.
Shooting them would have meant descending to their level and basically being no better than them, even though it was on his property.
