regarding the tournament, i thought overall the whole thing was good. playing on lan again was a lot of fun and the production quality seemed pretty nice, though there was a ton of downtime caused in between games and pauses, valve handled this at ti2 by having each player give their peripherals to valve in the very beginning of the tournament and they would set them up in between games, along with an SSD (hard drive) for each player to make sure there was no previous config/setting problems.
i thought the opening ceremony with the glitter girls banging on drums was nice, this is something that the international lacked last year completely, an opening and closing ceremony.
before i got to the tournament, i didn't expect to do well at all, there's always a lot of hype behind the chinese teams, and we had created some of our own irrational fears for their ability to excel in late game situations. however once we got there, we quickly learned that the chinese teams are no different than anyone else.
none of the matches except the game against lgd were one sided enough for me to believe that we can't compete with the chinese. the orange, alliance, and dk games could have very easily gone in our favor with a few small adjustments, and though its common and easy to say 'shoulda/woulda/coulda' won, we didnt. we still have a lot of improving and refining to do before ti3 comes along, but in between that is a dreamhack tournament (which i think we can do really well in) and a month long bootcamp. regardless of our end result, it's comforting to know that the chinese are human.
congratulations to alliance for winning this tournament, its a huge stepping stone for a western team to win a tournament with chinese competition, and im glad they did it in such a dominating fashion.
id like to thank/shoutout to carson and flamewheel, both of these fine gentlemen were a big help to us all throughout the tournament and we probably would have died without them (except flamewheel tried to kill us three times)

In America they're not used in most school or business bathrooms, but I have in fact pissed in a trough at an outdoor bar/dance party. It feels weird, and people do get penis envy.

Great blog man, and I am right with you when you said all of your games besides the one vs LGD were winnable with minor changes. This tournament did more to hype up TI3 than I ever could have imagined, and I can't wait for it to roll around!
