Just thinking about starcraft gets me off.
The intensity. The mind games. The mechanics. The speed. The taste of victory.
You have outplayed your opponent. Your style won. You came through.
You swiftly defeated them when you saw your window.
You smashed them to the ground once you grew too large.
They didn't know what hit them.
Till the out through the fog came ten dragoons and the game was no more.
There are many great video games but none come close to starcraft broodwar. It's so exploitable. As each second passes timing windows appear and vanish. A small force, when microed correctly can cause a massive amount of damage. There is no unit ai in broowar. The unit ai is you.
The level at which you can outclass and sometimes downright humiliate an opponent in this game is astoundingly awesome. I love you Broodwar.

Every time I come back to broodwar I think to myself, "Why am I going to play this? I know it's not important for me right now to get better, it's not my goal to reach anything higher than C- forever (my max is very low iccup D+), so why should I play?" I uninstall all the launchers and do something else for a while.
But then I start watching streams of other people playing it, and I think "BW isn't dead. And it's probably the most fun game I've played in a really long time."
And then I stay up until 5am playing it.
