So my last wife-blog was closed due to being a bit offensive, so I'll make one a bit more whiny and sfw.. about more annoying wife stuff!
For a while, the wife had mentioned starting a blog and talking about random stuff she apprently doesn't want to do on facebook, and kept saying how hard it was to find a good template. Template this, that. I sort of ignored it and nodded my head. Until she said - "Can you help me download and install this blog template?" followed by "It keeps asking me for a password".
Of course this turns on all sorts of flags and facepalms, so I decide to look into this a bit further. Apparently using a default blog template is completely unacceptable to females, and it isn't worth making a blog unless it looks pretty, but I digress. The point was she wanted to install something to a compter I had restricted permissions for because I was tired of uninstalling browser toolbars from firefox. After looking at the site she was going to this is what I found:

She was trying to download the thing on the right which was placed pretty well to non-nerds. There ya go, an acceptable blog post. Plus I made it look pretty.

Lol. Perhaps you ought to be a bit nicer? Well I'm not sure how nice you were to her about the whole situation since you didn't really say, but it's funny that it annoyed you so much. I find it pretty cute, but I can imagine annoyance if this is like the 500th annoying thing to happen.

Try living with a romantic partner. Then you'll understand where he's coming from..
Burrfoot, read your "dumb list of unimportant grievances". Great stuff. Mine loves to put the bowls on the bottom of the dishwasher even though they go on top. It's called efficient dishwasher loading. But no, so we end up running the dishwasher probably twice as much as we really need to. I used to always switch it but I gave up after a solid two years of stubbornness.
It's the small battles that get to you..

Well, did you explain to her why she was doing it wrong? Or just tell her "lol" and walk away? What's the result!

I have been with my girlfriend for nearly 6 years. She is getting more computer smart but damnit sometimes she does the most frustrating things. Not her fault, but sometimes you just get tired of trying to explain shit and you just do it yourself. Damned if you do, damned if you don't and in the end you get mad and you vent.
I feel you OP, I feel you *brohug*
Oh and cecil, even if you are living with a SO, thats fine. But the tone you take in a blog is different from the tone you take with the SO

Ah I just realized, my SO is majoring in computer science so... I have no idea what this all is actually like. Poor Burrfoot might be crackin his skull er'day : [

Those huge download buttons for something completely unrelated to the blog template makes me cringe. However I do admit I have fallen for them once or twice. Just toolbars and useless shit installed though.
It reminds me of the time my grandma wanted to make her computer go faster so she googled "how do I make my computer faster" and downloaded the first thing she clicked on without any kind of background check or asking for help lol. Turned out to be a relatively harmless and useless program and not a virus but I installed AVG on her computer after that and told her not to do that anymore.
Also those programs that ask you to install toolbars. Those piss me off. Nobody wants your damn toolbars clogging up the screen. Its too dangerous just to click the "quick download (recommended)" button anymore. Always gotta do custom download ffs.

Haha yea, let me speak of a story of three tupperwares I had as part of my leaving-for-college package. My mom had bought be these 3 well-sized rubbermaid tupperwares in the summer of 2002 to take me thru dorm life, and I had eaten and 'cooked' all sorts of things from Chef Boyarde to Ramen. They bore the pasta scars and re-microwaved stains from years service. Anyways, fastforward 10 years to married life, I come home to put some left overs into said tupper ware, and the top edges have literally been melted. I go "WTF! How did my tupperware die??!!". Wife says "I was cooking with the pan and put it on top of that by mistake".
This happens to all three of my faithful college containers over the course of the last year, and had resigned to favorite a couple of Ikea brand red ones with a steam vent switch. And of course earlier this month, I see a melted hole in the corner of the short wide one and died a little more on the inside.

I basically just pointed out that most ads are place in exactly the best place to con folks into clicking (like the facebook ads in the side), and she is happily blogging away about pinterest stuff and Dr. Oz and probably Channing Taters.

Yep. Sometime we just do it for fun. Like every time I go outside with socks that are apparently 0.5" above my ankles, I am purposefully trying to "dress like a bum". My 30+ t-shirts she says are 2 sizes too big for me also compliment my bumness.

boring blog...you seem kinda like a jerk..

I think what I'm taking away from this is that A: patience is a good thing, B: People place ads very well to attract people who don't know the internet so well, and C: You are being a huge dick to your wife dude. She wanted to make a pretty blog, and you are acting high and mighty telling us how the norm was just "too normal" for your wife. If you are gonna do it, you better overdo it, I find I'm on your wife's side on this one, seems like a normal mistake that you are being a jerk about.
EDIT: Your comment section has either redeemed you, or made you sound more jerkish, I can't tell . Though I do sympathize with you about frustration on this, I feel like your wording was a bit strong for someone you love when it comes to something that really is of no consequence.

hah no kidding. Every time I have to update Java and I see them trying to install the Ask Jeeves toolbar, I think to myself - "What the f*ck... Oracle is worth 80 billion USD.. and they want to make a few cents on this?"

A thoughtful reading of this blog will put things into perspective/help you figure out the tone I wager.
