I've been registered to this site since 2007 and I've done a TON of TL community meetups and events. They're so common in DC now I think we all take it for granted. I used to blog about the first few lans we had and the first few meetups because I was so awestruck that I found so many awesome Starcraft obsessed people that lived near me. As time went on I just started taking everything for granted and stopped really talking about it on TL outside of our community threads and other LAN threads. Plus with the emergence of SC2 it seemed to kickstart the community and just make everything bigger. Now with barcrafts and everything it seems like everyone can connect through real life so easily if they so desire it seems at times almost pointless to even talk about it. The growth really has been amazing but definitely reduces the exclusive/rarity of things that happened in the pre sc2 days. The DC group really is amazing though and I think one of the best sub communities on TL. Our core group of guys from broodwar days are still really close plus we've welcomed in countless of new comers over the years at all times.
Tonight something happened that has compelled me to share once again. One of our DC guys, CaucasianAsian recently left for Korea on Wednesday for 4 months for a study abroad program through his school. We knew to look for him on a proleague broadcast of course and expected to see him because lets face it, he's a white kid and we all know white kids are rockstars in the proleague studio. But the timing tonight for everything was so amazingly perfect it turned into one of those really awesome moments that I'm sure I wont be forgetting anytime soon. Part of the reason I want to write about this is I want Chris to know what happened, I know I would love hearing about this if it were the other way around.
StorrZerg who hosts ridiculously awesome cookouts at his place occasionally(this warrants a whole blog in itself to be honest, maybe another day) did one earlier tonight at his house. It started raining after sunset so the whole group of us had to go inside (about 15 people) into the basement where we started up a TV with proleague and were playing games of Mafia. Anyway it seemed like almost everyone in the room was watching the TV at the exact second OGN cuts to a shot of none other than CA and Kyle(deadz). Our whole room exploded and started screaming "IT'S CHRIS" everyone literally jumped up and just started high fiving everyone. It was one of those sporting event type moments you see happen all the time in sports bars or for other TV events, only this time it was for starcraft which made it way more amazing. btw deadz and his girlfriend Charisa are equally awesome people I've met through TL Mafia and are currently in Korea till 2013 or 2014 teaching English at a local school. Miss them both as well.
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/AA4JE.png) "IT'S CHRIS AND KYLE OMFG!!!!!!!!!!"
Anyway there really isn't much more to share in writing, it was just one of those moments that made me really appreciate everything I've gotten out of being a member of this community and everything I've done through sc2. It was one of those moments where I just felt so happy for whatever reason, like I belonged there in that specific moment for that specific event. People sometimes ask me why I play or spend so much time hosting events or planning events or meetups for the local TL/SC community, I think moments like this make it all more than worthwhile and then some. Some of my best friends in life now are people I've met through this site/game and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you're looking to get involved in your local TL or SC or esports community I highly recommend you take the initiative and start hosting events or going to meetups and just start meeting people. The life and soul of this game exists through the fans and people who work hard to make events and meetups happen. Contribute and help grow something that so many people share so much passion for and meet amazing people along the way. I hope everyone whos involved in esports gets to meet as many awesome people as I have over the years. <3 everyone.
I must sleep now thanks for reading. DC TL ftw.

yeah was kind of fate seeing CA on pro league cast on OGN with the bbq at Storr's/rain at the exact timing of Pro league/mafia, it was a bunch of events that coincidentally collided together, even ETT/wifey were there wtf? we all have taken this kind of stuff for granted imho. shout out to TL/DC/CA in korea, BRING ME BACK KT ROLSTER STUFF DUDE!

Once in a rare while everything transpires so that something GOOD will happen! This seems to happen a disproportionate amount at BW/SC2 lans for some reason... which I'm not complaining about...
