? Open world PK MMOs

Friend and I are looking for an MMO that has unrestricted PvP in all areas, and is as open-world as possible (lack of instances).

Stuff one of us has tried but didn't like or wasn't good enough, uses cash shops, has become inactive, have played too much or looking for something different, etc:

Vanguard
Runes of Magic
Aion
WoW
Age of Conan
Warhammer
Eve
MUDs
UO

We haven't tried Tera, and I'm not sure the details of PKing in Tera... if someone could fill me in that'd be great. Keep in mind we want hardcore PK system so if its "you can random pk on some maps but its only RvR" then that's not really ideal..

Try T4C ? It's old but it's hardcore and it's totally open world pvp Anyway I don't think you will find what you're looking for in new games, instances are more and more used and open pvp is less and less the trend because it's not "casual". Maybe you'll like GW2 (should be released in the coming months I think) but if you really want open world pvp you need to go back to the old games. Why did you stop playing UO ?

I didn't play UO but I play a similar game already (the Discworld MUD, which has very high interactiveness but equally dated graphics) . We want something preferably a bit more modern than those things. I'm not too picky myself, I'd play any late generation kor MMO tbh, but my friend is very picky and I thought i'd see if there's anything..

GW2 looks really cool but not what we're looking for as far as I can tell.. i'm not really interested in trying random things out atm.

A colleague of mine who was an UO fan and still played it on some freeshards (or what they are called) a year ago wanted to try Mortal Online. I don't know if he already did and what the results were, but he said he liked the concept of open world, free PvP, full loot, etc.

I wouldn't mind playing DayZ, its probably best game of the last ...long time... just seeing what else is out there

Tera might be good actually . Mortal Online looks cool

No real good PvP MMOs out there anymore.

UO/Shadowbane are your best bet probably.

Darkfall has had some increase in activity lately. Full-loot, player cities and you aim every attack, spell and skill.

If you play on a red server, TERA is a good game and has unrestricted PvP everywhere - and it's FFA, meaning you can beat up on anyone at any time at any level, if that appeals to you.

That being said, I haven't played in a few months, but back when I did play at launch there was no reward for PvP, no reason to kill people other than for the joy of seeing them rage (and it happens quite often).

Give it a shot!
