All you people who look up to snet: doesn't complementing his profession so much diminish the work that you do yourself? The world needs all sorts of people to survive, and you act like everyone should just become an EMT.
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Yeah, my desk programming job is not worth a single shit compared to what Snet does. There's a big big difference between "needing certain people for people to survive" and "needing certain people for a culture to survive"

I look up to Snet and others. Does it mean I am more useless than them? No, not really, but that doesn't change the fact that they are spending their lives saving others. That deserves respect imo.

Hey Snet, have you ever read Magnificent Obsession by Lloyd C. Douglas? Reading this blog really reminded me of it, you should check it out.

LOL, that's kind of weird ... -_-

This is awesome.

But one day your gonna have to forgive yourself, you can't live with that feeling of guilt for the rest of your life.
Forgive yourself by thinking to yourself to you have atoned for your past actions.
Stick it up. take it up. step aside and see the world

This isn't meant to be taken offensive:

If you wanted to make a difference, wouldn't preventing the problem be better?

I have kidney stones and the best way to deal with them is to prevent them.

Get over yourself. Everybody makes mistakes. And you could've done something bad, but you didnt. I can only wonder how'd you feel if you actually injured someone/yourself. Know who you are and come to peace with it. And as a doctor myself, I know being a hero is silly and dangerous. If you go out seeking justice for your mistakes you're just going to endanger yourself and/or worse - your colleagues. And thats just childish.

Raising awareness is always good and it takes a lot of effort. Its a way of not being selfish and doing things because they make you feel better. And the good thing about it is, it makes you feel better anyway. :D

If we didn't have academians then EMT's would still be people giving out leeches to drain bad blood.
If we didn't have garbagemen, then people would still die due to sanitation issues.
There's a distinction between the two needs, but in the big picture everything is relevant and people should be proud of doing something they like.
