i read the title as "so angry white ppl" on the sidebar. was surprised when i clicked on the thread.

I actually stopped calling anything gimmicky even if it's extremely easy to pull off and is strong. Once I started to look at it as a legitimate way to play the game, I didn't care as much when I lost to it. Surprisingly, I also started to adapt to any sort of cheese because it wasn't all of the sudden a coin flip in my mind. There isn't anything right now that is so gimmicky that it is impossible to deal with, just start to understand how you play in that position. I also just started gg'ing after every game even if I lost to a ramp block with pylons or bunkers. It took the expectation away and let me focus on playing how I wanted to play. I don't understand the idea of BM'ing someone for cheesing...in all honesty, they're doing something risky and often times you will have a higher win rate against those people than you would in macro games. BM'ing is just bad in general...raging at someone won't make you feel better or play better. It actually makes you dwell on it more than you should and puts you into a mode where you're blaming something/someone else for your mistakes.

If you can't change your mentality at all then I would say you probably need another game to play. With a ~50% win rate you're going to have your fair share of frustration and losses. If win/loss is your judge of success, you're not ever going to have a good time playing a game designed to keep that ratio close to the middle. A lot of games now let you advance just by playing a lot...you gain ranks because you gain experience and you can't lose anything. SC has never been like that since your ranking is relative and constantly in flux.

In short, if you can come to terms with the way this game works and realize that losing honestly doesn't mean a ton, you'll be in good shape and will be able to play more games. If you have expectations that can't be realistically achieved and can't seem to modify them to be more reasonable, you might just need an extended break.

There is also something to be said for how you see yourself as an improving competitor (presumably, you are competing to improve).

For example, when you play your set of ladder games, you expect to be improving by virtue of the fact that you are practicing and trying hard. But this can sometimes become shadowed by the fact that the system matches you against harder opponents, so that your win ratio remains at about 50%, except for the very few super-talented. Often, it can feel like you haven't covered any ground, because the battle won't get easier as you get better.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Try and find a way to embrace the increasing difficulty of the game. Look at it like as an achievement in itself.

I have to say this outright. That comment is not helping even the slightest bit.. The definition and purpose of the word "game" is just different in the mind of people who get angry by loosing. So please don't write that.

I know how it feels to you loosing. It is not a nice feeling, and it is because you are committing beyond casual concentration, because it makes you play better, but the fall hurts so much more. As you write, you expect to win and when it does happen.. Hell breaks loose.
I am as you, a nice guy, but when I loose when I don't feel like I shouldn't, I get so frustrated... The first couple of games I am like: meh let's use it for experience. But after some more, I get pissed.. (note: before, every loss pissed me off.)
I am writing here because I am on a loosing streak, and was hoping for golden words. xD I think the golden words are to analyse why you get angry. It is not because you loose. It is why you don't like to loose. You own reason seems legit. Write it down on a note and put on the desktop in front of you. So you can look at it when you start to get angry..

Analyse it, accept it, and work with it.. You seem to know what the issue is. Only you can find the solution. There might be more than one reason, but it seems like a good start.

I will say that I am calm again after writing this comment. ^_^
