My name is Whiskyneat. You don't know me, in fact, no one knows me. But one day you hopefully will. This isn't another "BrOnZe 2 MaStEr" Blog. This also isn't another "I WANT TO BE THE VERY BEST A PROGAMER" Blog either. This is me, wanting to have fun playing SC2 and hopefully get to know some people and have fun with them along the way.
The first thing you should know is I am not good at this game. I am in silver. I forget pylons and accidentally rally immortals into my opponents base. I lose to 8 pools and I can't cannon rush. These things aside, I am getting better. I have only been playing for around a month, and I've gone from screaming at my screen when 5 roaches show up at the 11 minute mark and all I have is 90 probes on one base because I didn't know how to build a gateway to being able to execute nice openings and follow them up, albeit sloppily.
I got into SC2 after stumbling upon day[9]'s and Husky's channels on Youtube. I loved how intricate and complex the game could be, and just how much of a community was behind it. I dabbled in Broodwar and WC3, but only in a very minor way. I have played a lot of competitive TF2 (disgusting, I know) and LoL. I love gaming, and have done it all my life, but have only recently gotten into SC2.
If you're Australian like I am, you would have understood the title of this post, but if not I'll elaborate. An Australian drink driving TV ad was famous for saying "If you drink and drive you're a bloody idiot". As brilliant as this ad was in appealing to the Australian culture of swearing, alcohol and insulting each other, I feel it made a good point. That being said however, and me being Australian, I love to drink. Not to say I drink and drive, mostly because I don't drive at all, but drinking is a large part of where I come from and my culture. This has lead me onto an interesting conclusion. Playing SC2 becomes harder in direct proportion to how drunk you are. It's not like darts of pool where you go downhill to a certain point, then suddenly skyrocket in new found drunken confidence and skill. When you drink and craft, at first it's not so bad. Your micro gets sloppy and you forget to macro here and there but nothing major.
Then you hit a wall.
I remember once trying to split my probes, and by the time I had gotten all 5 onto mineral patches it seemed like my opponent had already 6 pooled me, killed the probes and was waiting for me to leave the game. That day I swore never to drink and craft again! Well, get drunk and craft again. I still enjoy a beer or two, a pink moscarto or even a fine scotch while I am playing.
I intend to create a stream within the next couple of weeks, which would involve me playing SC2, discussing current events, and just trying to entertain the good people of the Team Liquid community.
While I don't expect to really get any fans from this, if you'd enjoy watching a stream of me playing and talking shit while getting progressively drunker from start to finish leave me a rating or a comment and if I get enough positive feedback I'll look into getting a stream up and running as fast as possible!

Having seen the effects first had of drinking and craft(ing) I think your stream is a great idea. One of my favorite drinking and crafting moments was when I was trying to show some mates the game, but I was so wasted I had to play with one eye closed so I wasn't seeing 2 computer screens. Needless to say I lost a bunch and they still don't understand why I love this game so much gl in your adventures !
My drunken starcraft experience involved me (diam) cannon rushing, six pooling and proxy marines on my m8s silver account. I'm not ashamed to say I had more fun doing that than at the actual party where we got drunk =D

No, I am silver! I mean, I hopefully one day will be in master league, but that's not why I play and why I intend to share what I do with the community. I play for fun, and to have fun with others, not purely to get better. If that happens as a side effect though, I will not complain.

I'd not call that 'awesome'... Makes for some facepalming time though ^.^ 2v2's are actually funny when drunk.... doing weird stuff & having laughs about it with your teammate on skype...
Thats a great ad, wish we had some of those on our commercial breaks and billboards. Drunk driving should be taken a lot more seriously. Hope your stream goes well.

More seriously in the US? Because everyone i know takes it pretty seriously, none of my friends ever let each other drive if we all know we've been drinking.
But on topic that AD was pretty fucking hilarious.
The only games i every play drunk are FPS, suddenly CoD becomes more interesting as you try to knife a guy a full second after your dead. Halo becomes a drunk driving course while i drive the hog and my friend shoots lol.

I feel watching replays the morning after drinking can only be bad, it's better to gauge your performance off your ladder ranking rather then forcing your likely hungover self to watch painful replays to you losing players much worse than yourself. That being said I'll likely cast some replays if I get too drunk to remember them, and try and explain my thinking behind my play!
Again thanks for the support! I'm looking into setting up a stream relatively soon, but with Christmas just around the corner I doubt there will be many people around to watch, not to mention I won't have much time to stream. I'll still try and get at least one session up, with a lot more coming in mid January!

I once played a 2v2 where my buddy dropped and his Robo was rallied to opponent's base (via an intricate series of points) for Warp Prism play, then I started making Colos on there and they just walked all the way over there and killed all his workers. XD
But drunk gaming is hilarious, up to a point. If you stop functioning then you are obviously gonna die to any and everything, but some drink actually makes me get "in the zone".

Hahaha, that is awesome! I tend to do it with immortals, and more often then not I'll look over and they'll be in the opponents mineral line killing workers. It's unintentional, but I like to think that my sub conscious is a SC2 mastermind.
Oh of course, I mean you don't want to be vomiting and not being able to see the screen your vision is so blurred, but if you can still see and think semi-straight it certainly makes the game more entertaining.
After about 3 months of many unexpected events, I'm finally getting this going. Spending tonight setting up a stream and might even get some recorded. Keep an eye out!
