Hello ladies and gentleman, my name is SGTurtle (Stian Paulsen), and I represent the organisation "SG" SocialGaming. Today we are going to interview a player some of you might be familiar with, coming all the way from Korea. Throughout the last year we've seen dedication, skill and effort from this player, both in tournaments like GSL, IPL and MLG, and recently he has played exceptional in the American and European grandmaster league. In addition to this, he was also a former member of the sucessfull Starcraft II team "MVP", with known players like DRG (DongRaeGu) and Noblesse.
In this interview I will ask him about his past, current and future goals, and last but not least his opinion about the European and American SCII community. Without further ado it is my pleasure to finally introduce to you, Donghwan"viOLet"Kim!
Q: Hello ViOlet, thank you so much for showing up, how are you today sir?
- Im very good, thanks for asking

Q: That's great! Could you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
- Of course. Hello, my name is Donghwan "viOlet"Kim i play Zerg. I was formally on team "MVP" in South Korea, now I practice in America. I am 20 years old, soon to be 21 and Starcraft II is for the moment my full time job.
Q: Did you have any relationship to RTS games or games in general before the release of "Starcraft II - The wings of liberty"?
- Actually yes. Before Starcraft II I played "Warcraft 3", despite the fact that the game didn't really get enough attention in Korea as i'd wish it would. I played "Warcraft 3" for about 3-4years, and switched over to Starcraft II when it was released, and i've played it ever since. In "Warcraft 3" I competed in tournaments like Zotac, WCG Korea and IEL.
Q: Wow, that's impressive accomplishments! How did you get into Warcraft 3 and Starcraft II? And how did you become a programer?
-When I was young I always dreamt about being a programer and have that as a profession, so I guess that gave my motivation to continue on, and at that time Warcraft 3 was a pretty good game, very popular and many online tournaments associated with it. Also Warcraft 3 was on the television alot, and from watching people like Moon, Lyn, and Dayfly playing Warcraft 3 i got really excited, motivated and that made me want the life of a programer even more. Starcraft II was basically a natural switch for me, because Warcraft 3 wasn't famous in Korea anymore due to "Brood War" and "Starcraft II - The wings of liberty". Therefor I decided to switch.
Q: Does your family support that you play starcraft 2?
- Yes, my father most, and he helped me take the next step. (ViOlet also said this in another interview.)
Q: Now, being in the MVP house for some time, how was it, and did you learn alot?
- Yes, it was very fun, but also hard, in the team house i basically did the same thing I do now, play ladder, and sometimes I would play up to 10-14 hours. At times I would get sick of playing ladder, cus it was hard to stay focused for so long, and then I would take breaks and instead play against my teammates.
Q: Why do you play Zerg?
- Chosing Zerg was a big mistake in my life, and I would feel more comfortable playing another race, for instance protoss.
Q: If you could choose another race instead, what would you play?
- Protoss, hihi

Q: Well, it's safe to say that you would make a good brotoss to some, hehe. Protoss is a very strong race, and has a lot of powerful units, do you consider protoss as the best race?
- Yes, of course
Q: As graphic goes there are a lot of professionals that tends to play on the lowest graphics, and so i ask you: what graphics do you play at?
- If you watch my stream you can see that I play on low quality so that I can show you best stream and also perform quicker and better. I use the Razer Deathadder mouse along with a cherry pro blue keyboard.
Q: Okay, that's cool, another thing that affects gameplay is your computer hardware, what mouse and keyboard do you use?
- I use the Razer Deathadder mouse along with a cherry pro blue keyboard.
Q: You mentioned that you streamed when I asked you about your graphic settings, do you stream all your games?
- Yes i stream for CSN program at teamliquid, URL: http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/viOLet
(On the stream ViOlet shows you ladder matches, tournaments, and everything related to SC2. Despite his English, he tries to commentate the games sometimes!) He usually streams long sessions, switching between an American account and European account.
Q: After leaving the MVP house in Korea, you came down to Texas, America to play in the MLG providence, you also competed in IPL, what do you think about these tournaments, and how did you do?
- IPL and MLG is very big event, although it is very different from Korea I like these types of tournaments, and I would love to compete more in them

Q: Well, it's safe to say that the fans are different, however, the ladder system is also different, which do you think are best for practice?
- I think the Korean ladders are best because we have the GSL which is a very long tournament, and very active, also everyone knows Korea ladder is best ^^
Q: Well, speaking of Korea, do you have any plans of going back to Korea and try to qualify for the next upcoming GSL season? If not, what tournaments would you like to join in the future?
- I don't think so considering I am already in America with the CSN program, so not sure yet, current answer: no. I would like to join big tournaments, because it's different from what im used to, and fans are great!
Q: Oh, alright then, is there any other career-based plans then? Right now you are in America thanks to the CSN program, will you still continue to be a part of CSN?
- Yes, now I am teamless so I will stay in America and CSN until I find team or CSN decides to find another player :p
Q: Is there any other plans, something that doesn't involve Starcraft pherhaps?
Continue play, show good play, meet great girl, then marry

Q: Last but not least, shoutouts, is there anyone you would like to thank?
- CSN, And everybody who has contributed to my career, and in addition HUGE thanks to my fans! Also, hello Norway!
That is going to be the end of this weeks interview, and I would like to thank you for your attention and time
