Wait, what? Proleague is due in 5 days guys. Sure it´s not as big as before but im far from declaring it dead.
Also - during this long time out from korean starcraft sayle and the boys have really shown that foreign starcraft can be amazing to watch as well. Sure its not the same, but it is still the best E-sport from a spectators point of view.

On topic: Amazing video, amazing thread about the "fake halfdone spire" and thank you so much for this!

my 'sources' say we have about a half-year worth of scbw proleague left =/
we'll see how it goes.

lol wtf

plz do share details

Uhhh why would you not give us the full details?? Cruel cliffhanger man!

Im leaning toward the former

As of now, the moments of SCBW far outshadow the reaches of SCII. The crowds were better, the atmosphere was so intense, and the tensions were not even describable even for me as a viewer on the stream 4 in the morning. Let's just hope SCII brings the same nostalgic feeling.

SCII is too new for nostalgia. Give it some time.

Amazing video, really well done. I cried manly tears.

I've gotten into Teamliquid and Starcraft 2 a year ago. Tho I played BW when I was a young 14 year old I never seriously got into the game and never knew what it manifested into. One of the regrets I have right now is not being part of the amazing decade of greatness. As a crazy sc2 fan, thank you people who followed BW and bringing up the level and high success of esports.
Getting too old for this..

Someone should really make a documentary detailing the history of BW. This video should be its trailer.

So amazing. Gah, so much BW nostalgia, I feel bad that I was born when I was. I wish I was there for the ride, but damn, I'm happy that I was there for the end of it

Remember guys, it only dies if you let it die.

We still have a lot going on. Sure, we've had bad news in recent months but we got to stay positive. =)

Unless Korea has had a MASSIVE surge of new SC2 players; it's not popular enough to justify proleague replacement. I don't know why people think this is likely. If it was implemented in any way it would be secondary because theres not as much of a market, simple as that.

PL and OSL still had great ratings. It's still popular. There's been setbacks but it wasn't always this big in the past either, so no reason why it would continue. More likely than dying is just eventually settling at a level. There's plenty of niche sports that didn't just disappear after an initial surge. The sequel is irrelevant to this because it's simply a different game, treating it as a transition is just stupid considering how different it is.

edit: eSports as a whole has been in a downturn too. It's lucky there is KeSPA to stabilize things. Clearly; they are positive enough about the situation that they raised Team 8's salaries, suggesting sponsors may be on the horizon already.

The idea that Blizzard is going to swoop in and pay the entire scene to switch is silly really. The whole ideals the organizations have of eSports doesn't even match... KeSPA is a non-profit attempting to just act as a governing body while Blizzard and it's organization with Gretech/other tournaments shows it's entirely for profit. So who would they even pay in this supposed deal and why would they do it? KeSPA will likely negotiate to be able to broadcast SC2 within their non-profit system and the GSL will just be separate.

yea this longer-than-usual off-season has really got people worried for no reason.

i just cant follow the logic of "terrific PL final -> best OSL final in years -> longer-than-usual off-season -> OMG BW IS DEAD"
