To start things off, it was amazing, being 15 and from RI, there aren't many gaming events in the near vicinity, but when they announced Providence, I was instantly overcome with excitement. To have one of the biggest gaming events within walking distance was an amazing feeling and I could not wait. Finally this day came and throughout the whole school day I was anxious to get home, get my things, and go to the RI Convention Center.
When I finally arrived it was a quick and easy entry, and as I proceeded into the gaming floor, I felt a rush of wonder and amazement, that a place as ugly and plain as the convention center could turn into a Glorious Room of Gaming.
Just as I was about to wander around in search of free food and drinks, I heard,",and here are Naniwa and MVP"(paraphrasing) and my eyes and ears leaped up to the front stage. I was just amazed that naniwa, an amazing player from sweden and MVP, considered one of the best from Korea, could be in Rhode Island, right in front of my eyes. I was in awe(i wont spoil the games for you guys ) I watched some amazing games and then proceeded to the CoD section where I was thrust onto a couch with 3D glasses and they announced "let's see what a noob can do vs a pro" although I didn't recognize or catch the pro's name, he was very friendly and then proceeded to anhiliate me, although i did kill him a few times, lol.
Later, I went back to the starcraft stage to watch the second match, and from behind I overheard a boy about the same age as me, explain to who I presume was his grandfather; Starcraft, teaching him the basics. Later as I was watching some games on the Alienware laptops I saw the same grandfather destroy a diamond terran(the grandfather played zerg) and it was obvious the diamond player was in shock, I asked the guy if he'd ever played Starcraft before, he said no, but I played chess for a long time. That was an awesome moment.
My night ended as I was waiting for my friend to come out of the bathroom, I saw "Destiny" appear before my eyes, and I was so nervous that when he walked by all I could manage was a shy "wassup" : ) hopefully tomorrow I will be able to approach the players with less shyness, lol.
Anyways to summarize, I just think it's crazy that MLG has come to Providence, when no other gaming event has as far as I can remember, hopefully there is more to come, glhf at Prov. guys
