my friend called me up suddenly and said i have to go on her community radio show with her to fill in for someone
was unprepared and high on cannabis and as you know my confidence levels are pretty fuckin low right now but i just done the day9 "okay ill do it and stop thinking about it" and ended up eventually there in the room waiting to begin
so it went okay, it was actually really relaxed and i talk quite well with this particular friend and trusted her to carry everything anyway. im kinda pleased she actually trusted me to go thru with it. well i guess its not such a big deal in her eyes but to me public speaking is a potentially life threatening situation
the content of the 1 hour was my friend saying somethiing about human rights and then us talking about care work/treatment of elderly people and then randomly about internet forums or something coz we had no idea what to talk about
i could have talked about SC but i wanted to save that for a better moment when i dont sound like im falling asleep lol
now i feel like me and my friend could interview random TLers , record it then put it on air at the radio station and make it available here too (probably more people would listen here lol). like interview someone for 15 mins about their art or some hobby or their job or their country. im sure i could get a few people from tlnet to do this and it might be cool/fun idk
another idea is going with my friend and stopping random people in the street to interview them / ask them some questions (which you tlnet could possibly provide!)
anyway the radio thing i done today is just being ripped to disc , will upload it . i wouldnt recommend that you listen LOL but you might be interested if you have a relationship with radio shows in any way

that's pretty cool. are you saying that you've never done radio before and you were just thrown in with no prior experience?
|
pretty lucky you got to be on radio with no experience. how do you feel about that?

ya well i done a few bw commentaries (typical british nervous habits galore) so i knew how hard it can sometimes be this girl is really easy to talk to tho (she never shuts up tbh), i just had to worry about not being redundant lol. imma try to listen to it now it stopped ripping.

haha i feel good about it, only a tiny community station but its a cool thing to do whatever way you look at it. next time (?) i would like to have something prepared , and to work on sounding energetic or at least alive idk

So you were high for the entire show?

I did radio for a few years and it's definitely just experience... the more you talk on the radio the more comfortable you get and more worth listening to you are :p
I was doing mostly music with just 5-10 minutes of talking per hour though.

Brits should never lack for confidence. You have accents that instantly raise your IQ 40 points and make panties slide to the floor faster that you can say "Tally Ho".

There's something romanticized and modest about radio. It's not blatant like television, but it is outdated considering.
I love radio for some reason, NPR maybe a bit too much

Compare and contrast NPR with CBC. Go.
