Couple things about me, I'm a collegiate rugby player who picked up olympic weightlifting in November of 2010 to help me become a rugby player, but loved it so much I started to compete in that as well. I'm relatively new to oly lifting so I feel I have a lot of room to improve. I've been playing rugby for the last 5-6 years or so and it's my true passion in life, and every day revolves around it. A bit about my rugby career: when I first started playing in high school I played full back (was probably 5'10, 170 lbs and played goalie all my life so it was a good fit), then I moved to fly half because I was the only back that could catch a ball. Once i got to college I played 2 years at winger while working my ass off to put on weight. Once I got up to ~210 @ 6'1 i switched to inside center and I've been playing center ever since. Decaf fact: I love running into people and hitting them senseless so this is a much better fit for me than winger. Unfortunately i'm still faster than all of our backs except our all american fullback so I don't have a lot of support but we still play together pretty well.
Not being a varsity sport or very popular in the states, it's largely driven by the team itself so myself and the other senior members put a lot of our own time into to make it work, but it's all worth it. I encourage everyone who likes running, hitting, friendly people, and beer to check out their local club! Back to the lifting, my current stats are:
Best Training lifts (@ bodyweight 94kg - 207lbs) Clean and Jerk - 145kg (319 lbs) Snatch - 120kg (264 lbs) Back Squat - 445 lbs Deadlift - 515 lbs Front Squat - 152kg (335 lbs) 155kg (341 lbs)
Best Competition lifts (@94kg) Clean and Jerk - 140kg (308 lbs) 145kg (319 lbs) Snatch - 110kg (242 lbs) 117kg (257 lbs) Best Total - 248kg 262kg
I usually train 3 times a week in olympic lifting as well as 3 rugby practices a week and usually have a rugby game on saturday. I have my first match of the season coming up this saturday and a lifting meet on the following saturday!
I'll also try to make some notes on my diet, I try to follow a paleo diet but it ends up being pretty loose.
Snatch - 3x40kg, 60, 70 2x80 1x90 1x100 (4 sets) 1x105, 1x110, 2x115(missed both) Had to leave early for practice, got a nice scrimmage in for an hour in the rain! Diet - Bacon egg omelette, banana, protein shake, ~1lb of chicken + 1/4 cup rice, cookies Upon writing realized i didn't eat very much. So busy!
Last heavy day before competition this saturday. Been eating like shit(not eating enough) so i should have no trouble making the 94kg class Clean and jerk - Singles at 50, 70, 100, 110, 2 singles at 120 and 125, and then 3 at 130kg (missed last jerk :-/) Snatch - Doubles at 50, 60, 70, 80, singles at 85, 90, 95, 100 Finished up a couple quick sets of pull ups and front squats to get home.
Diet -4 eggs in butter, 2 packets oatmeal, protein shake + 1/4 gal of milk. Will probably have some pork for dinner. I really need a can opener for my tuna/veggies T_T
Snatch - 2x50,60,70 then 3 singles at 80, 85, 90 (75% of 1RM, felt easy) CJ- 2x50,70,90 then 2 singles at 102.5 (bad) and 2 singles at 110(good) diet - 4 eggs, 1/3 lb ground beef + 3 eggs, protein shake so far. probably pulled pork for dinner.
The meet yesterday went very well, here are my two best lifts! Sorry for the shitty quality vids, apparently my mom is the only person who can fuck up automatic zoom T_T
Me on blackout rampage beast i will not fucking miss this lift mode:

Picture with the former olympian fred lowe congratulating me on the meet :D
Front Squat - 2x3x225 2x2x275 5x1x295 (in pounds not kg) Snatch - 2x40 60 80, 2x2x90 (stopped here, bit of pain in my left lat/mid back) CJ - 2x2x80, 100, 110, 120 (PR double for 120) Back Squat - 2x3x140, 2x2x150, 2x1x160, fail at 170
Front Squat - 3x135,185,205,225,245, 3 singles at 275 Followed up by rugby practice. Diet - eggs, chicken, then a couple girls came over and made some chicken/potato mix for our house. delicious!
C&J - Power clean and jerk doubles at 60, 80, 100, then 1x110 and 10 singles at 120kg (one power clean in there for fun) Snatch - 1x50,70,90, 6 singles at 100, 3 misses at 110
diet so far - bacon egg omelette, tuna, protein shake
That's pretty cool. I'm a college athlete at asu, but a swimmer so we're not quite as buff ha. But we're in the weight room at the same time as the throwers (shot put/discus/hammer throw) and they're moving some heavy weight. Last 4 years the NCAA shot put champ has been from here and they're ridiculously strong, not sure about their numbers but I could find out ha.
Is your back squat and dead lift low compared to your other olympic lifts?
I think they're pretty standard, could be wrong though. Its kind of hard to compare them because back squats and deadlifts use so much more of the posterior chain while oly lifts tend to be more quad dominant. That being said, a lot of pro oly lifters have stupidly high squats/deadlifts.
And yeah, throwers are usually some very strong and explosive guys (and coincidentally do a lot of olympic lifts )
From Russian percentages, I think its 80% of max back squat should be your clean and jerk. Max snatch is 60% of your max back squat. Decaf is pretty close to the percentages, so he is making great usage of his strength.

Said in the TLHF thread but i lifted for football and on my own pretty aimlessly around 04-09, started lifting a bit smarter/heavier 09-10 and then last summer i started lifting seriously(heavy squats/deadlifts with linear progression 3x a week) and then for the past 9 months i've been olympic lifting.
Update from this weekends game..We won 68-5 including 3 scores from myself We played pretty sloppy though so hopefully we can clean it up. My favorite play of the game involved me tackling a guy and putting him so hard in the ground he lost the ball so I picked it up and ran it in 40 meters :D
Nope, i play inside center (probably should have included that in OP, i'll edit)
Workout for 9/12 Last heavy day before competition this saturday. Most studies actually show olympic weightlifting is one of the safest sports in the world. If you're going to miss a lift you just drop the bar in front or behind you and restart the lift. The bar cant really even fall on you because you can lie down underneath the height it rests at.
Rugby on the other hand...shit can happen. In 5 full seasons i've had a sprained ankle + wrist, separated shoulder, and almost broke my toe, and split my head open twice, but i'll be damned if i ever missed a game
Workout for 9/14/11 Snatch - 2x50,60,70 then 3 singles at 80, 85, 90 (75% of 1RM, felt easy) CJ- 2x50,70,90 then 2 singles at 102.5 (bad) and 2 singles at 110(good) diet - 4 eggs, 1/3 lb ground beef + 3 eggs, protein shake so far. probably pulled pork for dinner.
Still pretty sore from going heavy on monday + taking a shoulder to the quads in rugby practice yesterday, was pretty much no energy after my last CJ. Always can find a way to pull another weight though, just though "It's your last lift, better be your best" and what i was doing it for "if you can't do this then you'll probably get your ass kicked in rugby" and last rep was ez pz. I do have some problems locking out my left elbow sometimes, hopefully that isn't a problem saturday.

9/20/11 Workout Front Squat - 3x135,185,205,225,245, 3 singles at 275 Followed up by rugby practice. Just trying to work up to squatting 5 days a week and seeing how it goes. Pretty sore from yesterdays brutal workout. Diet - eggs, chicken, then a couple girls came over and made some chicken/potato mix for our house. delicious!
Fuckin a. Lost 45-28 and it was 33-28 with 5-10 minutes left against a top 10 team :-/ I scored a try (leading team whee) and fucking murdered some kids though.
Lost 45-10 in a very very bad game against OSU. We failed at everything. Ref was awful (not that thats the reason we lost, he just flat out let them have scores that we're textbook against the rules and shit), i got punched in the head, someone tried to break my fingers, and someone bit me in the neck (wtf?). So yeah it was not a very fun game. On the bright side we were on ESPN on saturday! :p
10/3/11 Workout 1x EXAM SMASH :D C&J - Power clean and jerk doubles at 60, 80, 100, then 1x110 and 10 singles at 120kg (one power clean in there for fun) Snatch - 1x50,70,90, 6 singles at 100, 3 misses at 110 Overhead Press - 3x50, 2x70, 1x70, 75, 77.5. Then 5x77.5 push press. I do want to raise my OHP/push press a lot though because i feel pretty unstable with weights over my head in the 135kg+ range, i figure working push press and ohp will help my core stability with overhead weight.
10/5/11 Workout Snatched up to 107.5, couple misses at 110. Got a couple videos. Form feels a lot different after reading a couple articles.
As for our rugby game, we got fucking smashed 59-26. I managed to score ~20 seconds into the start of the game and we were up at half but then we just collapsed on ourselves. Never been so upset in my life after that loss :-/
No game this weekend. Monday was my 21st birthday so i was basically a zombie in the gym but felt better after the workout. 10/17/11 Workout -Snatch up to 60, fail at 60, laugh and go to powercleans -Powerclean triples for a few sets at 90 -Snatch up to 100 (no idea how)
10/19/11 Workout -Snatch up to 107.5, miss 110, work back up from 100, miss 110 a few more times. T_T -CJ 90, 110, 120, then time for rugby practice

Never had a 100m timed, I'm assuming in the 11-12 range but thats just a guess really. My last 40 yard dash i had timed was i think 2 years ago and i got ~4.7
