So, seems like there's no actual coverage on TL besides the initial announcement that this will be broadcast on OGN and features Tossgirl. Well, I did go today, if only for a short while, and here's some pics.

It's at the Water Cube. Go Google pics if you don't know, pretty cool place to have a tournament, may actually be the coolest if China didn't hate ESPORTS that much

Anyhow, here's the pool where Phelps showed the world he is actually a real fish, emptied for the gratuitous 3D SC2 action this weekend.

Went in, played a game of 3D SC2 on the Chinese ladder with the event's account which was in Bronze (lol), TvT on Taldarim where I just killed him with BFH and Cloaked Banshees. Gotta say, something wasn't right and was seeing doubles the whole screen, which made it difficult to play properly. Maybe it's the glasses from LG not playing nicely with monitor from Acer.

Anyhow, 3pm and the Moon vs MC games start.

Game 1, close position Metalopolis (WTF) Moon at 3 MC at 6
+ Show Spoiler +
Speedling expand vs 3gw expand
MC loses an early force to a good surround with lings and roaches, barely holds counter with Void Ray
Moon goes Hydras and proceeds to roll MC a few minutes later. GG

Game 2, Xel'naga Caverns Moon on top
+ Show Spoiler +
Speedling expand vs DT expand
DTs do no damage as Moon is well prepared with Evo Chamber
Moon goes burrowed Roaches but MC defends well with FFs while getting Colos out
Moon harasses 3rd with Lings and pokes front with Roaches while getting a lot of Mutalisks
Goes on a crazy tear with LIng run-bys, burrow Roach harass and Muta harass, great control and tactics
MC loses Colos to Mutas, can't split army well enough to hold off 3 fronts, loses way to much and GGs

Moon 2-0 and advances

Interview time!
Moon was quite happy with 3D, more immersive and BS like that , dizziness at first but fine later. Blah blah blah. No talk about the game, annoyingly.

Then there was like an hour until NaDa vs Lyn but sadly couldn't stay and watch, so walked around a bit and went home. One last image from the show floor, 20+ SC2 PCs, 16 or so Xboxes running Medal of Honour, CODBLOPS, NFS Shift 2, Streetfight 4, among others, and rows of TV showcases on all sides. All in 3D.

Some thoughts:
SC2 in 3D on a big screen looks pretty good, especially zoomed in, and especially big units (Ovies, Voids, Colos) and cloaked units. But crappy on a PC monitor.
Forcefields, annoying as they are, are quite a crowd pleaser, one of the few things to make the crowd clap and cheer.
Dear China, close positions suck, use MLG maps please.
Moon is really good, lings mutas roaches hitting 3 places and more or less tilting MC.
Wow, I know I'd get to see NaDa if I waited a bit over an hour, but I'd rather not and just read NaDa's Body again.
Event had the worst dancers. Not bad looking but reminded me of Britney Spears at Grammies. Much prefer GSL Kpop. ^^

Thanks for this, it's a pity that the "live coverage" didn't really happen on GTV or OGN apparently.

I don't know if it's because of strict broadcasting laws or what, but the biggest problem Chinese esports seems to have at the moment is actually getting their events and streams online where people can see them, especially for people who don't know Chinese and/or can't be bothered downloading a whole lot of dodgy Chinese applications just to watch some games.

Also, if you want to get hot dancers in Beijing then your best bet is probably to hire some Korean exchange students...sad but true~

Well, it just seems that the Chinese arent really interested in SC2? There are a lot of spare seats there that's for sure. At least you sound like you had a good time though.

The first picture is before the event started it seems. The pics he took from the audience seems full but I'm not sure. How was the crowd TS? And do you think it'll increase by the later rounds?

how far has MC fallen

can't win on close spawn Meta and loses to someone that is focusing on Warcraft 3 instead of SC 2 for WCG

Truly amazing venue, i'm also pretty pumped for the opportunities with 3D for viewing (not playing) - i could definitely see it becoming a hit at already established events (MLG/DH etc).

There were a couple (3, 4? My crowd estimation skills are lacking) hundred watching the Moon vs MC games, a hundred or so hovering around the PCs and consoles, and some people on the stands coming and going since they just came to the Water Cube and not for the ESPORTS. SC2 is still a fringe thing in China, sadly, and school's started for many locals so my Chinese friends couldn't make it. TT

Haha nice to meet you Xanczor, I wanted to shout "Teamliquid!" and see if anyone was there but I was afraid I'd be arrested on suspicion of being a separatist rebel or something.
