Esports in your schools!

Alright, when i joined the community around January i always dreamed about being a big part of it... and since becoming a pro is a long road! I'm going to do little things on the side to promote Esports in my school... I've been in connection with people from my school who run the assemblies about sports.. and they are really interested in getting Esports into the assembly (starcraft 2... LoL MLG stuff like that) So my question or reason of writing this is... Is this a good idea? :D and what do you do in your local area to promote esports?

Look up the CSL and get involved, probably the best way to go about it.

I'm planning to start through our strategy club in High School a HSSTL team. Pretty legit I think. I'll probably get interviewed at my school for the News Report that the school does as well as probably talk about it in assemblies. I'd say take that rout! I too have the long term dream of going pro!

Could you be more specific about what you mean by "getting Esports into the assembly"?.

Is it going to be like an after school club?

My school for every seasonal sport (fall/winter/spring) has a pep assembly... where you get all pumped up for the "big game" so I'm trying to get myself and some friends to be able to share games and tournaments coming up... Just like the football team or the basketball team would announce their Playoff games and what not!

Whenever a friend of mine tried to do something like this, a teacher or staff member would just dismiss it as a "video game club" and never sign off on it. Hope you have better luck than we did!

There is a High School Team League that is similar to the CSL, except it's for high schools obviously. You can check that out and show it to your teachers and maybe they'll see the phenomenon that is ESPORTS.

Someone should make a 'this is for real' video.

I keep having to show a ton of different videos (proleague finals, MLG crowds, dreamhack production value etc etc) to make people aware of how big it's really becoming.

It's really hard to just watch a match with them, not every game is good and while the players may matter to me, they matter little to someone who's never seen them play before.

There needs to be a <10 min youtube video to immediately link when someone is curious about esports or whenever one of those Kotaku articles pop up.
