Good Luck on your Journey...
I'll be checking by from time to time ... so better show some progress
Which race are you playing.

Thanks Yeah some progress would be nice indeed ;D And I'm a Zerg player. Should probably mention that in the OP (will edit tomorrow when updating for Day2)

I'm right now plat and as I just finished exams, I can mass gaming for 4weeks. Experience I made so far from a previous try, where I got from bronze to plat: It becomes really tiring after 15games or so. Also a huge loss streak (5+) can be depressing. So don't forget physical excercising and mental breaks. I'll be following you. Hope you will do better than my last time. ^_^

This is awesome man best of wishes to you! It always excites me when someone does this, motivates me to play more too =P. I will be checking in on you every now and then! I'll send you PMs if you stop playing >=O

Best of luck to you sir. Still, I think setting goal to be a GM might raise the bar too high. If I were you, I would set goal to get into diamond, then into master, ans later into high master. Setting small achievable goal and taking small step at a time , IMO, makes the journey less stressful.

What boon told you is true somehow. But! What you are doing is good too.
There is a difference between "aim" and "goals". Your aim should always be at the highest level. It will keep your dreams alive. Your goals should always be short to mid term (never long term, thats what aim is for). They will keep you motivated and focused on practice.
Keep it up even in the hardest moments and you will eventually make it.
Best of luck to you men. glhf!

hey goodluck man! ive basically been trying to do this aswell, i went from gold to diamond and hopefully masters is soon :D

Good luck, but don't be surprised if it takes a long ass time. It personally took me from release till now to get from silver to high masters, and that's after hours upon hours of watching streams, playing ladder games, and overall thinking about the game constantly.
If you're looking to specifically improve, I would focus on mechanics and game understanding. Find one solid build for each matchup and perfect it. I've watched a lot of Destiny's lessons, and one common theme between each student that I've noticed is they don't actually understand what they're doing/what destiny is telling him to do (for example: "hey look, he's killing your creep tumor with that void? What does that mean""I dunno""he has both a stargate and a robo, so at this stage of the game, he'll very few units so you should counter-pressure". Focus on understanding why you're doing something this way. Eventually, once you have both things at an adequate level, the other things like harass, mind games, micro will become very easy. This applies to all races.

Thanks for the cheers and the advices I don't have a build order that I'm trying to perfect yet, rather just a playstyle (mimicing Destiny a bit). Which I did on purpose as I don't just wanna get into the higher leagues, I wanna be able to actually play / compete at those levels. This will definitely take a while but college takes 5 years so I got plenty of time ^^ I'm aiming for high master / GM but my goal (for now) is to have smooth macro and basic game-sense.
The next couple of days I will focus on two things: I have to be more aggressive and I have to prioritize spending my larva above everything. Once I feel like my macro doesn't slip as much as it did today, I will begin working on my game-sense (more about how I'll do that once I'm able to keep my money low)
@eourcs I've noticed that too (Destinys students having no clue what's going on), right now my biggest issue is drawing conclusions based upon numbers of Sentries early/mid game - will work on it as soon as I'm able to constantly use my larva

You might even want to upload replays of games you think demonstrate your play, or games where you get destroyed or destroy someone. I don't think anyone will really look at them, but you never know. And it will be fun to watch them later on when you get better.
|
@Emporio I thought about doing something like that. Uploading coupe of replays of current play and then when I feel like I've improved on something I could upload the replay showing that. Like if I had a game where I'm almost always below 3 larva on each hatch.
But yeah I don't know if people will actually follow my journey but as much as this blog is for you guys to read it's also for me to one day look back on and smile ^^
Edit: added last two lines

Good luck. Aim for the baby steps just to get into plat - diamond - masters first! ^^

I hope you have a faceroll major because any remotely challenging program + Getting to GM + managing a girlfriend is going to destroy your grades.
Gl hf buddy. Just remember, doing well in school is the most important

^^Solid advice from Vlare, but, GL with your endeavors

Thanks for the link. I've actually been through that twice already but I'll probably read it once again

I think there are more getting to GM blogs than there are GM spots.
But hey, it's great to have a goal. I just started playing on the TW/KR server so not very likely for me to get into GM.
Anyway, good luck, GM isn't that far from Gold. ^^

Awesome stuff, man! I'm trying to get to Diamond, and I'm gold at the moment.. Seems like a long road but I think I can make it. First I will focus on school and then I will work as HARD AS I CAN to make it to where I want to be.
Cant wait to see how you improve! GL HF!
