So I've been working two jobs for a couple months now and for once in my life have some money at my disposal. I hit the goal I needed to reach t pay for school a few weeks ago which is great, but I dont really spend alot of money so now I have all this money I dont really need.

Anyways, Ive been thinking of trying to get some teeth whitening done and was wondering if anyone had some experience with this? The strip things are alot cheaper then going into a dentist, how well do they work? Is it worth it?

I looked into this once and the advice I got is that you should get some advice from your dentist because individual cases are different.

I just went to the dentist, and he said different types of teeth respond in different ways to whitening. He said smooth teeth that tend to be slightly yellow respond best while more textured teeth don't respond as well. I'd ask your dentist about how he'd think you'd do with whitening.

oh, and dont forget to floss XD

It all depends on why you want to whiten them.
If they're severely stained, consider whitening, otherwise, I suggest using your money for something better or for later.

Instead of getting them professionally whitened, first you should try the whitening strips that you have to buy online because they're so strong. Almost double the Hydrogen Peroxide of the stuff you buy in stores. I've read lots of great reviews.

I got teeth whitening like 5 years ago from the dentist. It involved taking a plastic cast of my teeth home and filling it with whatever gel they use and then leaving it in for 30 minutes at a time or however long, I don't really remember.

It made a small difference but nothing huge. I think there are other ways to do it but I chose the cheaper/not as difficult way. The way I did was basically a concentrated version of those strips. If you're unsure I would just use the strips for awhile, they're not expensive and if they get the job done then you don't need to go to the dentist for it.

There are stronger whitening strips that you can buy that you can't buy in a drug store? Can you provide a link

I swear by Crest White Strips. I've been using them for years. It's best to use them once a year or so. My dentist said that they're just as safe as professional methods if used properly and a fraction of the cost, but they yield outstandingly similar results. There are a number of at home treatments from different companies, and you'll have good results for a smaller cost allowing you to save your money for other things.

Crest White Strips Supreme. Almost triple the strength of the normal white strips.

go to any grocery store and buy hydrogen peroxide, it should be next to the isopropyl alcohol.
the bottles sold in stores are already diluted, usually 3%-5% hydrogen peroxide, but follow the instructions on the bottle.
pour a small amount of the solution into a glass, mix in some tap water. and use as mouthwash.
do not swallow.
those white strips are just hydrogen peroxide; a nicely packaged gimmick.

I was actually at the dentist's yesterday and asked them about teeth whitening. The woman working on my teeth was telling me if you're going to use the strips, use brand name Crest White Strips. She says what they actually do are sort of an optical illusion. The enamel on your teeth is clear and can become stained looking. What the strips do, is turn the transparent enamel opaque, giving the illusion on them being whiter. She says they're harmless, don't make your teeth brittle, etc.

Or use your money to buy a set of steel jaws and them use them to commit crimes and break out of prison by chewing through through the bars.

If you want instant result, go have it done by dentist.

Otherwise, you can have the same result from Crest White Strips. However, this is a gradual process. You will not detect whitening result right away (leading to discouragement and thus stop usuage of tx). Requires patience and dedication. Try not to skip any days in between.

Also this depends on the sensitivity of your teeth whether to things that are hot or cold. For severely sensitive teeth, I do not recommend it to be done in an office setting.
In such case, best result will be by Strips with less hydrogen peroxide concentration strips. (For longer period of time)
