Just a tiny rant blog:
Been cramming for about ~70 hours with 2 three-hour naps in between, and currently have been awake for over 30 hours. Exam is in just a little under 20 hours, and still over 200 pages to go... Coffee stopped working ages ago, and I'm unfortunately out of adderall as well.
This sinking, choking and just absolutely terrible feeling has been eating away at me, knowing I'm fucked no matter what. Best case scenario is just a mere pass at this point. I absolutely can't fail this exam, because parents will see the results and cut me off if I mess up since I've sufficiently pissed them off an ample amount already.
So mad and disappointed at my own severe procrastination, I just feel so hopeless.
I'm crying a little. Fuck my life.

Get some sleep. Drink a litre or 2 of water then get a good 8 hours sleep asap. you will wake up feeling refreshed and then you can focus on the last 200 pages in the 12 hours before the exam.. or 10 leaving 2 for food and getting to the exam. Trust me, sometimes sleep is the only way through it... there's only so much caffeine and other stimulants a body can take
|
What are you studying for o0?
|
Sounds like you kinda put yourself in this situation (as you admit), but there isn't much you can do about that. You've got a good chunk of time left, maybe sleep and then work on the last bits? I think sleep would likely do you well, rather than just cramming mindlessly against your will.
|
And yet you've spent time posting this on TL.
I'm sorry if I came off as a big douche with that line, but I'm just stating the facts. :I
I guess all you can do at this point is bite down, and do your best.
|
Relax. It will probably be okay.
If it doesn't go well, it's not as though life ends. I remember obsessing over an important test and my brother saying to me "If it doesn't go well, will you care in a few months?"
Stay calm. Focus. Good luck.

Sleep for 8 hours.
the emotions you're going through are 100% because of your lack of sleep
|
theres no way your going to learn in the state your in anyways, sacrifice some studying for a good 8 hours of sleep and a nice meal then study hardcore for the remaining time
|
I had maturity test and I had to write work/read a whole lot of books in 1 day. I was tired, unshaved and all in sweat but I did it. Sleep for 6-8 hours, stop panic - read. Good luck and have fun !
|
Don't just read everything. Pick and choose what's relevant and focus our study effort into the important parts. You know you can't get everything so minimize your losses.
|
I think you should go sleep. Seriously, you are not being very efficient like this anyways. Might as well get some rest and get up and study a bit more.
|
why the fuck would you censor yourself on teamliquid

hahaha yea this post was worth the crying and stress

Yeah, you need to sleep, and quickly.
Use the remaining time to take care of the rest of the work. Otherwise, you'll just completely break down...studying on drugs without sleeping can also be bad if you choose to go sleep, so I don't know :/

Like others have said, get sleep and your body will work much better, I promise. Be smart about this. You're going to be a lot more energetic and much more efficient if you can get some rest.
|
yea man
if you know you're gonna be fucked either way then just fucking go to sleep lol though you can't change the outcome. you can at least admit that you're fucked. and if you REALLY admit it then you will be able to just relax and let your body pass out as it probably wants to.
don't hope for anything and trying to sleep at the same time or the anxiety will prevent good sleep.
just let it happen
and when you wake up. THEN CRAM!!!!!

Dood, if you're not used to this kind of cramming, you really need to stop and get a full 8 hours of sleep now. Stuff you are reading is gonna go right through without sticking anywhere in your brain.
Sleep and MAKE SURE SOMEONE WAKES YOU UP so you have time to finish you last pages. At this point that 8 hours still won't be enough obviously, so you won't be in prime studying form. I highly recommend that you read aloud to yourself or at least review the end of each section by talking it through to yourself, as that tends to help make things stick when you are really tired. Then eat before going, or you will feel ill to your stomach from lack of sleep and too much caffeine.
Lastly, though I do not like doing this cause it makes me sick-- stop eating and drink a lot of energy drinks if you really really need to stay awake more. With only energy drink in your stomach you will absorb the caffeine very fast much like alcohol and get a quick burst. However this will make you sick to the stomach and your body generally will feel like crap for the next week. (I'm sure it already does, but who wants to be throwing up/nauseous on top of that?)

You need to sleep. Youve already wasted time if youve been up for 30 hours. When you lack sleep for that long you dont retain any memory and therefor information. I know it sucks. You need to sleep to even be able to think.
|
Just get the big picture. Rereading your textbook from start to finish is stupid. Just restudy the big ideas and you should recall a lot of the details. If you don't, over the summer get a good book on memory development. Harry Loraine has a great book on Memory.

dude, just end your life ahaha

If your parents would block you out for doing bad on an exam, they are bad parents. Therefore, forget about them if they get angry. Just be confident and do your best. Forget those 200 pages and sleep.
If your parents are angry at you because you procrastinated badly, then it's your fault and hopefully you learned a lesson.
|
Study as much as possible before the test starts, but make sure you get enough sleep before you take your exam.
Good luck, and don't psych yourself out (any more than you already have)
|
Can I ask what course and year?
|
Get a real amount of sleep. Not 3 hours. Your body needs several REM cycles in a row.
|
Yea if you don't sleep you are fucked. I once couldn't think during an exam due to lack of sleep. It was kind of bad. :D
|
Definitely sleep for a good chunk of time.
|
Best of luck. There's light at the end of the tunnel.

I pulled a 60-hour marathon (four 30-minute naps on the two round-trips on the subway for a total of 2 hours of "sleep") in my third year, I know how it feels x_x I pulled the first all-nighter for a huge bridge project that turned out horrible, the second one for an impossible exam, and then foolishly stayed near campus for epic drinking. I somehow made it home alive with the help of a friend.
Needless to say, I flunked both the project and the exam hahaha. Hope your case turns out better, I hope you make it through!
|
Who reads the whole textbook? You are using your time so poorly. Good luck.
|
Well I guess you don't have anyone to blame but yourself.

My advice: Get some sleep, and get off TL oh my hours of procrastination in the funny pictures thread.
|
Thanks to all who gave me advice, I just slept for ~8 hours and although I still feel shitty, it's light years better than last night.
I'm in my 4th year and it's a deferred corp. finance exam. 11 hours to go... Wish me luck, I'm going to need it.
|
4th year UW Mechanical Engineering here.
I've done my fair share of procrastinating, regretting it, and failing courses, but your anxiety will be your worst enemy. Sleep is paramount, so it's good that you at least have that. Reading regularly is also paramount. In my previous term I completed all my required readings and I still almost failed some courses.
Next time add reading to your daily schedule so that it is not left to the last minute. Exam studying should be review and practice problems, not learning.
For now though, put that out of your mind because dwelling on what you didn't do won't help you. Think of what you already know and have learned and apply at least that in your exam.
Good luck.

Good man. Study hard for your last few hours, take at least 30 minutes or so before your exam to calm down and get a bite of something good to eat(fruit salad is amazing) while doing your best not to think about your test. You can do this.
|
your study habits are terrible. Get some sleep, stop reading every page of your textbook, be effient and learn how to read summaries/speed read and start showing up to class so you don't have to do that in the future.

also, what the hell is a maturity test??
|
SLEEP! Its the most important thing. If you don't sleep, you will forget the shit you know.
If you sleep, you will also more easily be able to identify the things you don't know and move on to the next question.
