There is one item that I cherish and protect more than anything else I own... including my laptop. That item is Bunny.
Bunny is, well, a stuffed animal. He used to be extremely white and fluffy, but now he is a permanent grey and barely has any fur in most places. He has been extremely well loved over the years.
I got Bunny as a gift before I was born. He was put into my crib with all of the other stuffed animals given to me, but little baby Riku ended up just clinging to him every night. I never had fully imaginary friends, but, as I believe all children do, I gave my toys personalities. My barbies were evil and cruel and got killed at the end of any play scene by the wild horses they attempted to break. Purry-kitty was always melancholy as the tufts of fur over her eyes made her expression. And Bunny was my little white knight. He didn't exactly come to my defense, but he was always there for me with kind words and support, no matter what.
Of course, I was fairly dependent on the little stuffed animal. As a baby and child, sleeping with him every night meant that sleeping without him was pretty much impossible. Over the years, I had gained some sort of technique where I could keep him in one arm or another or just pressed against my chest all night long, no matter how much I tossed and turned. It really was a second nature for me.
When I reached sixth grade, I became slightly self-conscious of being so dependent on a stuffed animal. I feared if anyone in middle school learned about him, I would be relentlessly teased. I was also fairly afraid that he was going to fall apart, as the last 11 years hadn't exactly done wonders to him. I took my model skeleton out of it's plastic case and attempted to keep Bunny in there to perserve him a number of times... but each time, I wouldn't be able to sleep, feeling odd and like a bad person for abandoning him. Haha, yes, he was the only stuffed animal that retained a personality for me, though I know he doesn't really have one, he just still seems to.
Eventually, I just reached a "fuck it" conclusion. Bunny means a lot to me and I don't care if people tease me about him. Yes, I still snuggle up each night with him safely in my arms, and I've found that people actually think it's admirable or cute that I would still care for the little guy after all of these years.
I guess he's just part of who I am, a silly nerdy girl with her stuffed bunny.

I always lost mine, but I had golf clubs(i play golf) so it worked out for me in terms of toys/companions or a brother. that too.

I had a stuffed hulk hogan that i couldn't sleep without.
His personality was scary tho.

Is Bunny by any chance a bunny, or do you like messing with people?
You have guests. You show them around your place, they see the stuffed animal on your bed. It resembles a teddy bear. They ask you why it's there. Your reply, "It's my favorite and I always cuddle with it at night! I've had it ever since I was born!" They ask if it has a name. "Why of course! That's Bunny!" They look directly at you dumbfounded. :o
Which leads to the next question. Is Bunny male or female? If it's a girl you should introduce Bunny to Manfred.

I have a childhood stuffed watermelon friend who I named "Mr. Pickle" because I was a dumb kid who didn't know the difference between a pickle and a watermelon. I think he's guarding a pile of disused CDs in the basement now.

My sister had a stuffed pig for about 15-20 years that she slept with every night and took everywhere (except international travel) until someone finally stole the box with it in it when she was moving to a new house. So yeah that sucked. But more on the point you're not alone in having something like bunny.

that's really cute :3 i had a stuffed panda bear that i not only slept with, but also played with constantly throughout the day when i was in elementary school. but yeah, i used and abused him so much that his limbs and nose tore off, and eventually he just broke haha. but man, he was so dirty... i cried so many 3rd grader tears on that thing lol

My sister has the same kind of thing going, cept hers was a lamb.
She even refuses to eat any kind of lamb meat and has her whole life.

When I was very young, I used to have a teddy bear that was very dear to me. I remember around age five or so his eyes (which were brown buttons) fell off and my mother replaced them with silvery buttons.
When I left home for college, at barely 16, I lost track of what happened to this bear. The next I saw of it was at age 35 or so, I found that he'd been given to my now 10 year old half-brother, who was then about six. Despite that I was 35 and hadn't seen this toy bear in almost 20 years, I had a moment of jealousy and anger that was really uncharacteristic for me.
I got over it, and I know that he appreciates my toy bear, but I'm still shocked at how upset it made me.

Aw, that's cute. It reminds me of this little teddy bear I got the day I was born. It's wearing a sweater with my name on it. I think tomorrow I'm going to go back to my mom's to get it.

My son has adopted my old blanky. Slept with that thing up until I went to Basic Training.
And I don't have that sociological buffer zone of being a female. But I also couldn't give a shit less what people think.

Parrot got me through some tough times 
I had him until 11th grade from like middle school. He was so old he lost an eye. Then my parents threw him out and I got really angry.

I think it's great that so many other people have or had objects in their life that fill the same role Bunny does for me!

I had tons of stuffed animals when I was younger, but the one that retained its personality the longest was a stuffed giant panda bear.
I loved pandas (before they got super popular from getting added to the national zoo *indie glasses engage*), and I loved this stuffed animal, but sometime during high school (or maybe after in preparation for college? I don't really remember) I had to stop sleeping with it due to being so self-conscious about the thing and of course not wanting to take it to college.
Now I'm trying to remember her name but I honestly can't....
