11th Hour
A beautiful game for when it came out. While it is easy to download, you will need a DOS emulator to play it. Movement through the haunted house you are in is beyond terrible, but that really isn't where the game shines. 11th Hour, like it's predecessor, 7th Guest, is all about solving puzzles and riddles. While it seems like DOS might not be able to support good puzzles and AI, this game proves that theory wrong. If you enjoy really working your gears, play this game!
Fable 3 (PC)
This game gathered many poor game reviews, most saying they expected much more from the third game in the series. Admittedly, since Fable 2 never came out for the PC, I cannot compare the two. However, I found exactly what I expected from Fable 3: Fable. While there are many other games since the original Fable came out that factor in decision making and your conversations with people in how your character and plot develop and grow, Fable still feels like a genre of it's own. The graphics aren't amazing for a 2010 game, though I suspect that is to keep the art style similar to previous games and to make sure the casual gamer can still play it on their PC. The game really falls short when it comes to diversity of gear, though. Hair, clothing, etc, have very few options, unless you want to download content, and Window's Live is absolutely terrible and buggy. So play Fable 3 if you love Fable, but get ready for a bit of frustration with Window's Live if you play it on the PC.
Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
Beyond cute. This game had me giggling and smiling and feeling scared of ever letting a child near my wallet. The main character is a little girl who has to open an item shop to pay back her father's ridiculous debt. Her commonly used motto throughout the game is "Capitalism, ho!" which is cute and terrifying at the same time. The graphics are far from beautiful, but have the same cute style that have carried many other older games forward, such as Ragnarok Online. The game can be addictive and isn't all about selling items (unless you want it to be!), as you can explore and fight through dungeons (through hired mercenaries, of course). Prepare yourself for the cute story of what happens on the other side of those JRPG item vendor's stalls.
