Goal
From Bronze to Masters. Get as far up the Blizzard ladder as possible before the end of the summer. All skill levels welcome, you just need some serious dedication.
Overview
This is for people trying to get motivated into laddering and starting to compete. I know a lot of people like me have only been sticking to the streams and not getting into the actual game. I’d like to get a bunch of people in this for motivating each other and bouncing ideas off of. So if you’d like to join the list then just reply or send me a pm with the info necessary below. The practice will consist of laddering and general exercises I’ve been putting together to specifically train certain elements of the game. At the end of the summer we can look how much everyone has accomplished through replays and ladder position. I’ll be streaming my practice as well as casting some of the replays that you guys send in to see how far people are progressing.
Method
These rules aren’t binding by any means, but should be followed somewhat in order to gain anything out of this at all.
- Practice the weekly recommended exercises
- At least 25 ladder games a week. (5 games per weekday but they can be spread during the week however you’d like)
- Each week, submit the last replay of a ladder match you’ve played to: ripsin.sc@gmail.com
- Get good really fast and have a good time watching yourself progress.
Event
(Optional) Meet-up at MLG Raleigh at the end of August. Either as a player or spectator. It’ll just be a good time, but isn’t necessary to join the practice group over the summer.
About me
Sup, I’m Ripsin. I’ve been a long time lurker on the forums and only recently created an account. I’m going to be a senior in college and majoring in chemical engineering. This is why the summer session is just that, I have limited time to play before classes start up again in the fall. The old laptop just couldn’t handle the game so I built a sweet desktop this spring and I want to start playing competitively. I’m in the silver league, but haven’t played any ladder games yet. I fancy myself an intelligent and strong gamer, but haven’t delved into starcraft any more than the campaign.

I don't know if I'll be very active in the group, but writing stuff down always helps. I'm going to be working as normal during the summer, maybe even busier, so maybe this will motivate me.

I'm working for the most part of my summer (again =P). I thought I would be able to play a hefty amount of games after the semester ended but I found it hard to get the motivation to play games after coming home after a long day at work. Not sure how this practice group will work, but it's becoming apparent that laddering on my lonely nights and having a few drinks too many to end it is not paying off very well =(. I gotta do something different, who knows, this could be it.

Same here, man. Starting to play is the hardest part about getting better at this game. Look me up in game, we have a good time while we do this. And it definitely helps you break the barrier between watching casts and playing.
