Hi guys, today I am writing a rant directed and pointed towards a small group of christians. Recently there's been several rumours about judgement day finally being around the corner, and they have already set the day. The day is supposed to be 21th of May, and on that day a enormous earthquake will swallow all christians of the world, and lead them to heaven. The rest "non" christians is supposed to be on the earth living as normal while God's plague flood the world within the next 5 months. What they also say is that a huge firebolt will hit the world someday within the 10th month, october, which will result in an apacolypse leading the world to its end.
Ok, first of all I don't belive this at all. There is several reasons why I don't ignore this theory and move on to my laddering, and these reasons are:
- The man who revealed the theoretical date claims to be a prophet of god, and that the bible is the proof of his judgement theory. Well, to dissapoint this man I personally took a quick look into the bible and found out that a prophet is someone who is never mistaken or wrong. If one of the several details and predictions a prophet presents to the world is incorrect, he is NOT a prophet of god. Well, how can we know he is a prophet or not? Well, according to his evidence (the bible) he can't be a prophet, which basically tells us that he is guessing the date and details. In 1940 somewhat he predicted that the same thing would occur and happend to the world, but it never did. Innocent and embaressed as the man was, he excused himself saying it was a miscalculation. He told his crowd and belivers that he was a prophet of god and that this was god's message to the people of the world. So, already in 1940 the answer of him being a prophet or not, was NO, and still is. Another reason why this can't be true is because the bible itself tells us that no other individual, angel, spirit, or holy object or scrolls can set the date or know it, except the father of the world, this individual being god. So, the belivers say they found the answer due to phrofecy and holy objects etc, but the bible says something else. And if the bible says something else than the belivers, they are wrong about their predictions, because their evidence or information / sources, is the bible itself.
Personally this is being posted because i can't concentrate inside a game because of my irritation and anger directed towards theese people. They set a bad example for the religion itself which can lead to war between several religions. I am somewhat a christian and I really don't support this madness. I also posted this because I wanted to see what the teamliquid site thinks about this.
Therefor I will end this topic by saying, god bless you, and have a nice day on saturday (21th of May 2011) Do you think this will happend? What are you're thoughts? Do you disagree or agree with me? Are you a christian? Are you annoyed by this?

Yeah, just ignore people like these.
It says in the bible that we don't know when the end will come which is why we must always be alert and faithful, yada yada yada. There's definitely no set date you can predict though.

Who's ready for some post-rapture looting? I sure am excited.

Lol, I'm a chirstian and have been making jokes about this since I saw it. The guys a joke, and his prediction goes against a number of easy to find verses. He also said Sept 4th or so in I think 1994 or 7 was going to be the end of the world.
Mostly that the bible clearly states that no one knows when the world will end and that the rapture will happen 7 years before the end of the world, not 5 months.
I'm not annoyed, I find it funny.
Check out this guy's genius business idea: http://eternal-earthbound-pets.com/

This was brought to my attention about a week ago. My friends and I just laughed about what we would do in the last 10 days. Turns out the women in our group are a little hornier than the guys. Year 11 high school for the win.
What is this. Eternal Earthbound Pets? Leave them with atheists after the rapture has gobbled up all the Christians? This guy is brilliant. I wonder how much money he has made by making up this bullsh*t story and how much he really is a Christian

Manipulation through interpretation is nothing new. Religions have been doing it forever to just fulfill their own personal (as in the people doing the interpretations) goals. One modern version of this occurring, excluding yours, is the interpretation of the Qur'an by radicals from the Middle East, particularly al-Qaida. Another more historical example can be the creation of the Book of Mormon. (I believe that the guys who created South Park wrote a musical about the Book of Mormon recently lol)
So to answer your questions: No this will not happen. This is nothing new and is just a ploy to get more people to go to this man's church so he can get more money. This situation can be ignored, at least until it becomes a threat to society and then can be handled as such. Oh and no I am not a Christian.

Yep it's pretty silly

Not hatin', I'm just fed up with people projecting their opinions on what the Word actually says.
But you're right, no-where does it say 2011. Just a small minority of Christians believe this, so what happens to the other Christians who don't? I'ts quite silly, and I beleive that anything about the end-days and final prophecies are waaay too far off to be applied to this day or century.
That being said, I haven't heard of it untill [SWF] Funny Pics Thread today (YaY non-radical Europe [; ), and they're sure to look pretty stupid oin 3 days. Don't worry about it, and personally if I was there I'd love to confront the guys about it and be concerned at their mis-interpretation. sounds fun

Well it goes rapture > great tributlation > final judgement > second life/death

Uh....
4990 years from 0
2011 years from 0
Total is 7001 years.
But also their math about 23 years from 1988 is bad because they didn't substitute 1 day = 1000 years, so the 8400 days in 23 years is 8.4 million years so I think we've got a bit of time.

But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you."
Yeh, pretty much this. I always hate to see a Christian group or organization try to predict these kinds of things. Spread the love y'all :D not the math -.-

I hope the end comes, but only for Christians. Wouldn't that be awesome, I'd be rich and have all their stuff and finally would get some peace of mind. That said I always hope the next bunch of lunatics gets it right. I'd give anything for a good apocalyptic scenario: raining blood and fire, each man to his own, etc,..
Do you ever wonder what kind of person, someday, in his thoughts goes: I wonder if the world's going to end anytime soon... and then goes on to find some method of calculating a date from thousand year old obscure scriblings, then runs out of his house to preach it to everyone until the day passes and nothing happens. I wonder what their immediate next thoughts are: "oops, maybe it was 18th and not 17th.. yeah don't worry, tomorrow for sure Jesus will ascend with his flaming chariot, throw some fire on all the heretics and then we'll all ride with him to heaven that is somewhere between the clouds and outer space.." Then when the end doesn't come anyway they are all: "just JLIG it" and go on to maybe search for another date or maybe give up on their career as a prophet.
I want to know such person.

Or we could just not base our ideas on a book based on bronze-age beliefs and realize that there is nothing concrete to indicate an apocalypse on Saturday...
I agree with the OP. It is ridiculous. I was tempted to go to one of these people I saw today and say "We will not meet the noble Tassadar until about 475 years from now; how could the world possibly be ending?"
And one thing I don't get: what about time zones? Does the world end earlier or later in Australia than the United States? Is the apocalypse gonna be on the 20th or 22nd for anybody? Is it like the Supernova mission in the campaign with the moving wave of fire? lol

they're math is just ridiculous, dont believe them. personally, just ignore this BS and if it does happen... well just say we are screwed xD

No, it doesnt bother me at all, when it doesnt happen just say you got left behind with a troll face
|
This makes me facepalm.
I know some people choose to believe in this, but c'mon...
|
My old friend I haven`t spoken to since highschool sent me a message that this was going to happen and all of the debates I had with him would be proven that I was wrong and he was right.
|
Doesn't really concern me too much. Even 2012 seems more convincing than this. It'd really suck if I was just about to be promoted to silver on Saturday, but then something like a solar flare destroyed the earth
