Hey guys, I'm in China for vacation right now, and as some of you may be aware of, China blocks Facebook/Youtube/Justintv/Twitter and some other popular websites for whatever reason. As such even though I have internet (which is already a pleasant surprise since I am in the village. Go technology!), I can't do much besides read TL/Reddit.
Now I am aware that there are ways to get around China's blocks (my friend got on FB last year in China). I'm no expert when it comes to this stuff, but I think long term solutions involve setting up VPNs. However I don't want to spend money and am just looking for quick hotfixes.
I've used google search and besides the VPN softwares there are links to website proxies which either let you type in a web address or gives you a proxy IP address to put into your browser's LAN settings. However, none of those solutions work (I guess China's gotten better at blocking sites).
Anyways if anyone knows of any solutions it would be awesome. If not, no problem. Thanks anyways!

https://www.torproject.org/ might work for you. If not you could try a trial of proxifier with a proxy configuration for your web browser and see if that works. I always thought it was super easy to bypass a countries restrictions.

That site is blocked in China. I've never heard of proxifier but I guess I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
Soo I'm a total noob, how do I use proxifier?

I'm going to china for 3 weeks and would love to know the same for blocked stuff through the firewall.
plus if canucks make it to the Stanley cup finals I NEED to watch it

i would recommend just searching for a proxy server

Every proxy server I've tried either don't work or the site itself is blocked.

If you can get a hold of a working proxy servers IP you create a rule in proxifier to use the proxy server only for web traffic. This makes it so all other traffic doesn't use the proxy server, which will add a slight latency to your internet connection, maybe causing lag spikes in games. You just create the rule with the proxy servers IP and the protocol it uses for its connection along with which ports the proxy server will address. I haven't used it in a while so I don't have every screen and option memorized, but that's the gist of it. There should be a couple guides on making a proxifier rule on the net somewhere if you can't get it right away.

Ultrasurf works. The site itself is blocked in china though so I would get a friend to download it for you and sent it via email. Otherwise it works perfectly. http://www.ultrareach.com/

Maybe try using Hotspot shield, its a VPN that gives you an US (or atleast North America) IP. This usually gets around site blocks, though you may have to go find somewhere to download it as the authorities in China may have blocked the hotspot shield site lol

Can someone dl hotspot shield and send it to me t.t
PM if you can ;o

Well, none of the old tricks are working. That includes hotspot shield, tor, etc. Looking for a free (even if rather slow) solution, or at least one that doesn't require a 6 month subcription... only going to be here a few weeks.
edit - nvm, we have rectified the problem ;o
