Katekyo Hitman Reborn - Worth Reading?

I just caught up with Toriko over the last few days (oh my god, I love that series by the way), and now I'm looking to burn through something else to kill some time. Out of the Manga's that normally appear weekly on Mangashare, this is one of the only ones that I haven't given thought to on reading. So, let me know if it's worthwhile to read!~

Dagobert Netherlands1858 Posts April 25 2011 22:43 GMT #2 If the anime is any indication, the beginning is shite, it SLOWLY gets better (anime: >episode 30), then it's decent to pretty fun, stopped watching because every episode is 50% recap, 30% side story and 20% cliffhanger. Guess they can't do that in the manga as excessively, so I suppose it's a fairly decent read. I liked Death Note and Claymore. The only mangas I recall reading.

Ryshi Canada361 Posts April 25 2011 23:21 GMT #3 I read it every week alongside with Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece (not fairytale atm). The beginning was mainly comedy, then it switched to shonen arcs. The beginning fillers were pretty good imo, not just a random thing but to show character personalities/relationship development. The first part is about recruiting his "family" or a team of 7 members, each with supposedly unique attributes. Some parts of the arcs are adventurous where they split up, kind of like the CP9 in one piece. But most of the time, the final battles are always mirror battles. Each member face off with the enemy's member that focus on the same attributes (eg. illusion vs illusion). Imo, these final battles are rather stale. They end quickly though, usually 1-2 per member battle, but the battle is usually just a new power without any much cool things. Most battles are also complete dominance with the new power. Sometimes, when an early battle is finished, the plot just jumps to the final boss coming out and the arc ends early. Hope I was helpful, I don't think I spoiled too much.

Still its a generic shounen and dont find anything outstanding about it.Maybe its only me because Im more into seinen manga.... the only shounen that i really love are One Piece and FMA .I guess if you are into typical battle shounen manga its definitely worth it to check it out.

Then it sorta slows down a little and develops some plot holes/dues ex machina situations which I didn't like. If you're just looking for some action and shounen manga to kill time, I think it's a good read but nothing outstanding.

The beginning is indeed mostly comedic, as others have said, and it does pick up quite a bit into the shonen fighting style. I'd give it a 7/10. Not exactly the best I've read but definitely worth it.
