Hi, my name is Harout but I usually go by Hush. I'm 23 and I live on SoCal. I currently go to a community college and I hope to transfer soon (although it seems to be taking forever). I've been playing SC2 for a couple of months and I think it's a lot of fun. It's definitely something I want to get better at even though I'm still in the silver league.
I did play some Brood War a couple of years ago but didn't really play much. At that time I was more into this game called DDR and ITG so I didn't have much time for SC. I actually became really good at it and won a few tournaments as well as make a ton of new friends during the peak of it's popularity. However, the DDR/ITG scene had died and there are barely any tournaments left to go to. I was hoping I could find something else to kill my time.
I remember loving SC when I was younger and got SC2 when a friend of mine was selling his extra copy. It's definitely a different experience, going from an arcade junkie who always meets new people at an arcade to staying at home and sitting on the computer meeting people online. I've meet a few people already but nothing concrete. Some social gamers who don't play often, a few buddies of mine who are really good but never have any time to play. After watching one of Day[9]'s videos about how to get in to SC2, I got really into it and decided that it's something I want to do. So, here I am making this post.
I think the thing that attracted me the most was how big this community actually is. When I was a part of the DDR/ITG community, the community was incredibly small. At our peak, our tournaments had a maximum of 32 people entering, but mostly averaging about 16 or less. Not only that, but the tournaments SC2 has are incredible. There are apparently even shows where you can watch pro gamers play for such high prize amounts. I guess it helps with sponsorship though, our tournaments were only supported by entry fees, a percentage of which usually went to arcade owners.
Maybe I'm being a bit too personal in this first post, but I guess it's better to put myself out there as the person I am rather than just lurking the forums.
I go by Hush online, I think my character code is 399. I just started (and am probably sticking with) Zerg, I'm only in Silver League, and I still have trouble playing for more than 90 minutes at a time, but I hope to some day get better and maybe even make some new friends here.
K that's it! Ask any questions if you'd like, maybe I'll even post some more stuff here if I think I should. Bye!
