Promotions
Congratulations to coolHite, who has been promoted to Diamond! coolHite has been working hard on his game and grinding ladder games. His play is very aggressive and tough do deal with for most players, even at the Diamond level. He pretty much owns me now.
Congratulations to SicKShoT who has been promoted to Gold! His macro and timing have been improving quite a bit. He's improving his understanding of the matchups as well. I worked with SicKShoT on his ZvZ, explaining that if the other Zerg fast expands, specifically hatch first, that he needs to punish them for it. I drilled him a bit on pressuring and shutting down the expo off of one base, and left the option open of just expanding himself as well. Also worked with him on his ZvT. He was being over aggressive against turtling Terrans and trying to bash in the front door all the time. I showed him how to expand and take the map Vs a turtle, and how to defend from early harassment from banshees and helions while still expanding quickly multiple times.
VanderLuust
VanderLuust has been a bit neglected. I haven't worked with him much at all lately. I asked him to play a few ladder games and send me the reps, but I haven't gotten anything from him yet.
Codetta
I worked with Codetta on getting a more colossus heavy army vs mass hydra roach and MM. He tends to go way too many gateway units. Also helped him vs mass thor, explaining that he needs to pump out some immortals to deal with them.
BabyToss
BabyToss hasn't been feeling well lately, so she hasn't been playing any ladder games for a while. She's starting to feel better though, and I think she's ready to get in some real work soon. She's still having some problems attack moving properly during battles, accidentally hitting structures or specific units that are out of range, causing her units to suicide. After watching from her perspective, I can see that she flashes to her units when a fight is starting, attack moves very quickly, and immediately flashes away back to her base to macro. The idea of macroing during battle is a good one, but she needs to pay more attention to the battle and be more deliberate about choosing a piece of ground to click on when a-moving.
Twiz
I also worked with Twiz on taking the map Vs defensive players, as he was having a similar problem to SicKShoT and being overly aggressive. Later he sent me a couple of replays where he did that beautifully. He learns quickly. His game has been steadily improving and I think he'll probably be Gold soon.
I'm going to try to re-evaluate all of my students strengths and weaknesses soon. All of their games have transformed quite a bit, and I think it might be helpful to take another snapshot of their current state.
In an interesting turn of events, I was demoted to Platinum. lol. I've been playing a bunch of games as Terran and Zerg to get ideas to help my non-protoss students, and it caught up to my rating apparently. My students encouraged me to ladder more and I've taken their advice, since they thought my game was slipping. =) I'm getting it back though and I've won 7 in a row, so hopefully I'll be back in Diamond soon.
Edit: For those of you that I've put on a waiting list, don't worry, I have all your names down and I haven't forgotten about you. I'll probably be taking on another student within the next couple weeks. I currently have 9 people on the list.
