All I want is a sturdy desk with a nice flat surface. No shelves, file cabinets, or keyboard trays.
Any suggestions?

My recommendation would just to keep looking and look at an IKEA catalog if you haven't already, best place on earth. Yeah, I know its weird. That's why I made a blog post. I was just frustrated I couldn't find a worthwhile desk lol. IKEA seems to have some nice stuff, though.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S99851435 except bigger (about 8 inches longer i think) very easy to assemble (all you really gotta do is screw in about 20 screws and you're set)

Longer or even L shaped desks are great for a workstation set up. The Height of the desk is also important because we have have different heights. I'm not a huge dude so I prefer something that's not too tall.

It is easy to assemble, extremely light, extremely sturdy, and really easy to clean. Oh, and it's 40 bucks. Unbelievably dirt cheap. Perfect simple desk.

Two file cabinets are more than enough for your files and games etc. It's cheap and durable, and when you don't need it anymore, you have yourself a spare flat surface and two file cabinets that you can stack anywhere. Seriously think about it.
