My mother bought a piece of art in a thrift store we believe might be worth more than the $15 she paid for it. Does anyone on teamliquid have any experience with artwork, either selling it or identifying it?
It's a picture of a raccoon by Charles Frace. It is signed by him in pencil below a printed copy of his name, and says "Plate VII" in the upper lefthand corner. At the bottom left it has a copyright message dating from 1974.
What should we do? Anyone know?
edit: This is the artwork we got. Makes the blog less boring ahaha.

I think this calls for Antique Roadshow.

That's the coolest raccoon I've ever seen. On topic, I know nothing about art

I think google is honestly your best bet here, google his name and his works, see if any of them have gone to auction etc
good luck

It would require some actual physical tests to see if it was authentic, even a picture doesn't help all that much, possibly only for the artwork's supposed creator.

Google will tell you his prints sell for around $100 and up, so if you someone who's enough of an art snob to just want to buy the name instead of looking at the silly picture, then you could probably get at least that much. So try selling it on ebay.

Did he say it was a print? My bad. I don't know how to check for authenticity.
