I have a Razer Abyssus mouse, which I got when I needed a new mouse when my MX518 broke. It's a really nice mouse: much smaller and lighter than the 518. I'd recommend it (it's not any more expensive than the 518).

Haven't tried any of their keyboards or mousepads.

Razer

Their mice are trash but the Lycosa is a solid keyboard .
What? I think the razer mice are the best mice imo. Iam using a Razer arctosa and a Razor deathadder.

I have owned ALOT of peripherals, including razer, but in all honesty they are just overpriced and not that great.

From razer I had a artosa keyboard(lycosa without the lights), a banshee mouse, barracuda headset, and one of their hard surfaced mousepads. The keyboard was okay for $45 but once I started to use mechanical keyboards I will never go back. Mouse was meh at best, my logitech g5/g9x were much more comfortable to use for precision games such as sc/counter strike. Mousepad was great but costed $15. And oh god, headsets were a total NIGHTMARE, the barracuda($100 when I got it) needed so many plugs to work that it was anal raping my motherboard, and the damn thing died on me after a month of use. RMA'ed it got a new one, and it died again.

If you want reliability, and generally good "gaming" products, go with steelseries. Great mousepads, keyboards, and headsets. The 7G is the BEST keyboard ever made, but it does cost $150. Love their mousepads, and got a good deal on some Sibera headsets that have been great for over a year now.

I've also got/had logitech products: g5/g9x mice, g15 keyboard. The g5 was one of the best mice I've ever had, but I'm pretty happy with the g9x as well. The keyboard is very over rated, and I really have no use for macros or care that it is backlit.

Also ventured into "fatal1ty" headsets from creative, and at $35 they were good, so it's great for people on a budget.

In summary, steelseries ftw for performance. If you want to look cool and have shit that lights up go with razer and logitech. Oh and steelseries also has very nice looking sc2 mousepads for $15, I think they are QcK so good quality as well.

The best cheap gaming purpose headset is the G35, but it can only be used on a computer so that's it's limitation but it does deliver great sound quality for stereo and surround sound.

Traditional stereo Headsets steelseries is very good build quality.

Keyboards, mechanical keyboards are great they give strong positive feedback when typing on them so people generally like them. But inherently they are costly to make and thus expensive.

No keyboard is like faster then another at games, it's all at matter of how many buttons you can press at any given time without the keyboard locking up, which most gaming keyboards support 5+ keys more then enough.

Logitech keyboards are not mechanical, but feature oriented, USB hubs, audio hubs, screens and macro keys. All work very well, although frankly the only useful thing to me is the screen, as i can get cpu and gpu information on it along with change songs in wmp so i've found it very nice, but that could just be just me.

Hell as long as it has a volume control, and the ability to lock out the windows key i'm fine with the keyboard.

Mice, i absolutely love logitech mice, they feel very nice when you get used to using an ergonomic mouse, and they are high quality, the G500 and G9x have one of the most precise lazers and processing for a mouse on the market, only prob is that the mouse has a cheap feel, but it solid none the less.

Mouse pads, it's a matter of preference, generally they don't improve tracking at all, if anything they hurt mouse tracking but on a good mouse that means nothing. What you want is a consistent surface to play on.

Hard mats tend to be very slick, if you get cloth like i recommend getting a thick cloth one.

the steelseries 7G uses Cherry Black switches, so you can get basically the same keyboard but a bit cheaper. http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=filco_keyboards,majestouch_104key&pid=fkbn104mleb

I've been using a Logitech G9 mouse. The on the fly sensitivty changing is nice too. For mice, you generally just want one that feels good. Their performance really is not that important.

At first, I just used the table on which my computer sits, but it started destroying the feet and was very scratchy, so I bought a steelseries clothpad. Afterwards, I tried a hard mat, and I absolutely loved the low resistance and slick feeling. So you may want to try something like that as well. (I have a Razer Destrutor. Pricy, but I love it.)

edit: +1 on the Zalman Mic. Cheap, and you can pair it with any headset out there to suit your non-gaming/ music needs as well. I have a audio technica AD700. Nice and lightweight, and doesn't get hot. It's basically on my head 24/7

This. A lot of Razer products (if not all) are overpriced on the notion that it's "great for gaming" when it doesn't really help at all in the first place.

What about their headsets?

You can get better headsets if you don't care about a separate keyboard, for the same or less money.

For headphones: You can't go wrong with Steel Series Siberas at all. Even the older ones are closer to $30 now on Amazon which is pretty good.

As far as mice go: Deathadder is probably the best mouse i've ever owned--and I've owned quite a few, including the famed Logitech MX518 (I've used other logitech mice for YEARS), but definitely love the deathadder the most.

Keyboards: I use a lycosa--but any will do.

I've had a lachesis for 2 years, to be honest I find it's less-comfortable for playing starcraft than my old microsoft optical mouse ($14). Apparently the lachesis is more meant for shooters though, so.. yeah

Please don't get a razer keyboard. If you want a nice keyboard either get a filco from elitekeyboards.com , a steelseries 7g. If those are both too expensive then a dt35.

Mechanical keyboards are one of the best investments you can make as a gamer .

Razer has amazing mice and micepads. The Razer Deathadder is commonly accepted as being the best palm grip mouse along with the Logitech mx518. The mousepads are very good as well. The keyboards are nothing exceptional though.

The mice are quite solid and the mousepads are great too. I personally use a Mamba (7 buttons and I don't even use them all o_O) and I also have a Sphex "desktop skin." Both are amazing and the Sphex literally becomes part of your desk. I don't know much about the keyboards though since I don't have a working desktop.
