I just wanted to rant about this.
Recently I picked up a new CPU, some RAM, and a GPU for sc2, and it has been a complete disaster.
First off I thought if I just upgraded my video card I would be set to play this game with high graphics at a low resolution, wrong. wrong. wrong. My nvidia 260 got choked extremely hard.
So than I went to go upgrade my RAM and processor.
Well, well, well NOW I have an fp-in9 SLI A-bit motherboard, and I tried to upgrade my processor to a 7500 2.93 ghz dual core. The ram is fine. Now I am looking at some crazy issues. My network controller keeps crashing, things of this nature. Why you ask? Well it turns out the mobo manufacturer A-BIT went out of business a few years ago. So to get my processor to read properly in my bios (in the latest version released BY a-bit wasn't supporting my new CPU and was telling me that it was 92C/198F permanently, to the point where I thought it was DOA, which forced me to download a 'nonpublic' version of the bios that would.)
Now what's happening? Well I am getting random stoppage of programs working, I can't connect to random programs, (AIM and MSN can't connect, but the connection test passes?), some websites are taking longer to load, starcraft 2 is crashing because of 'corrupted files' no thanks to 12.1 patch of course as well...
This is a fucking mess, I simply wanted to make my computer run smooth, and I ended up upgrading all these pieces to fucking mid level parts just to get it to run smoothly again. Who else has ever dealt with this bullshit? I just wanted to slightly upgrade my comp, now I'm possibly looking down the barrel of throwing another 50 bucks I don't have down the drain to get a socket 775 mobo that can properly handle this processor without having to rely on some 3rd/unknown party's shitty bios flashes that don't work properly.
This shit adds up and for anyone looking to slightly upgrade their comp I highly suggest that they take a good hard look at what they plan on doing.
What a mess this is turning out to wonderfully be.

The problem is that you tried to do this without much help I guess?
|
You know I'm pretty good with this sort of stuff and I did have help with me as well. We were unlinking and relinking the cpu and memory and stuff of that nature in the bios to make sure it was sync'd up correctly without much of an issue. This is just a huge pain in the ass... majorly.. actually.
And ugh I am seeing if this is stabalizing. Also I think a dumb thing was NOT reformatting after changing out the processor, GPU and RAM for upgrades..
I am seriously considering reformatting and I certainly will before I decide to purchase another motherboard to ensure that the mobo is most definitely the issue.

For that amount of money, you could have probably purchased a new machine with only a few bucks more. Check www.techbargains.com. I hope this helps.

1) Get a new motherboard, you don't want an unsupported mobo that has issues recognizing your CPU. It's not worth your time fucking around with it when you can get a solid 755 mobo for 50-80 bucks.
2) Test your ram. Thoroughly. Memtest86 or other programs will do fine. Sometimes if you have a bad stick of ram in the 3rd or 4th DIMM slot you can actually install windows and do lots of stuff before it fubars your data.
3) Run a driver cleaner program or reformat and then re-install your drivers for your 260.

Wow i do that sort of thing myself but i have never had problems like that sounds like hell O.o
My motherboards have always been excellent in accepting new gear im waiting for the day that luck hits bottom and i get your problems now

It sounds to me like you don't really know how a computer works! :D Ask google!

Well I was trying to trouble shoot problems down the line before I went to reformatting, which is unfortunate that I have been having these issues lately.
Currently doing a memory test. Been at this stuff for a few hours now.
