I wrote to apologize and he wrote back (he remembered me holding my little sister, wearing an elephant t-shirt, over the crowd so she could pass him the paper). He thought it was funny. He'd signed right over the top of Bill

Btw Luckyfool, what school in DC are you at? I used to be at DC for 2 years at my university as well and would see Dick Cheney limo driving thru our campus street every morning though I never saw him. I didn't want to get shot you know.

Best part was right after going outside after the speech and seeing the presidential motorcade drive away, 4 armored suv's loaded with swat snipers, and like 3 armored limos (u have no clue which one the president is actually in) loaded with secret service and in front and behind of all the armored vehicles you have armies of local police cruisers... that shit was badass. I didn't have a camera cuz I stayed in another dorm last night and went straight to the rally so no pics sadly... Unless I post the few I took from my cell phone but those aren't really internet worthy they're better for texting to friends and showing off from my phone loool. and @ QuickStriker I go to George Mason, it's not actually in DC it's in Fairfax a suburb of DC about 20 minutes outside of the city.

I can't say I really agree with the health care bill that he's trying to pass. it's going to cost $940 billion and the government is going to be controlling health care, does the US government ever really "control" anything the way the people want? I dunno... Just a nitpick - the government wouldn't be controlling health care even if the bill passes. You'd have to look at the UK's NHS for an example of that, and the reform in this bill is nowhere that comprehensive. It's not even single-payer, haha...

On the outside health care will be more "affordable" for middle class Americans but the damage is going to be felt underneath. This entire bill honestly seems like a brush-the-dirt-under-the-rug and worry about it later sort of deal the more I read about it and the more people talk about it. $940 billion is no small amount of money. My political viewpoints are usually moderate but I find myself disagreeing with the bill. Mainly because it's just a shitload of more spending that we honestly can't afford. It goes much deeper than just a simple restructure that Obama refers to. What's gonna happen when China and Japan stop buying our debt as fast as they are now? Eventually we're going to have to account for all this spending...

It estimates that the bill will lower the debt by $1.1 trillion in the decade after that.

This healthcare bill is long overdue in the US, however I don't know anything about it so if they fuck it up it will not be too helpful.

Whether you think there should be national healthcare or not (I do), it IS a bad bill and its entire life (drawn up behind closed doors) to how it's going to be passed tomorrow (reconciliation), it's been handled poorly and in a way that promotes distrust. It's still loaded with earmarks all over the place and it's missing so many key features. The hope, I guess, is to correct it over time, but it might blow up before it gets that chance. It's really not comparable to UK or Canada or any other system.

Can you cite me an estimate of the CBO on any huge program where it didn't under-estimate or woefully lie about the costs, in terms of 400%-1500%? CBO is a joke. It rubber stamps the Governments plans, and no one bats an eye. It would be like Enron's accounting team saying their plan to embezzle and defraud their customers will actually be beneficial and save the company money, when it is doing the opposite. Bizzaro world. I guess the Government granting medical monopolies and in return they setup the regulatory boundries (control), is not actually, Government ran entities....Well, Fascism by definition is the collusion of State and Corporation, so, yes, the Government will be controlling another 16% of the American Economy, to lump on top of the 45% it all ready controls. Well, we're becoming a more pure totalitarian country every day. Land of the Free haha. Fucking joke. Anyways, congrats on seeing King George III, errr, sorry, Obama.
