So me and my friend have decided that we want to spend a summer in korea somewhere around or in Seoul.
This would be our first trip there so we need some advice on where to live.
What we're looking for now is a place we can rent for about 1 month in the months june/july.
We'd like something affordable, and somewhere close to a subway so we can get into town.
If any teamliquid members would like to hang out that would also be awesome! :p.
So can anyone give us some advice on taking a vacation in Korea?

Personally, I hate korea in the summer.
I am assuming you are white, so you will get raped by mosquitos.
Monsoon season is the worst as it is just hot and humid, and fucking sucks cock.
But on the brighter side
Food is great, girls are hot (if you are in the right part of town), and the subway is so easy to use.
Can't really help you with the place because I usually stay with family.

Damn, I really hate mosquitos, i wish those creeps would just all die.(Why do white get raped by mosquitos?)
Yeah rain sucks quite a bit, but I'm sure we can whip out SC2 if the need arrives :p.
What we really are looking for is the place to stay. Most places are fairly expensive, and the cheaper ones usually don't have any inventory.
I looked at this site: http://www.nicerent.com/
But couldn't find anything decent.

Gotta avoid the rainy seasons.... can't stress that enough. I remember my grandma had to get out of her 5th floor apartment on a rescue boat cause of the floods several years back lmao...

its hard to find a place like that if youre not willing to pay a lot. i would recommend love motels at 30/night/person but then i dont know what you would do on friday/saturday.
but yea, i looked into renting an apartment online before i went and its nearly impossible. even moreso if you cant speak korean.
edit: hostels in seoul are terrible. if youre looking that route stick with love motels. theres a sickly good hostel in busan though.

For mosquitoes: get a anti-mosquito device from a local store. They are somewhat costly (5-15 dollars depending on brand and device) but very effective. You can either get one where you replace 'mats' about the size of carnival ticket (one that says ADMIT ONE) taht lasts 8 hours or a bathroom-like refresher that you can turn on/off. I suggest you get the latter one.
I can't give any advice on picking a place to live. Best of luck.

As ruxxar says, a cheap place to stay would of course be preferred. However, the biggest problem I enocuntered, when surfing through various places for rent on korean web sites, is that most appartments are not rented on a short term basis, regardless the price. So I guess motels/hotels are the most suiting option for us.
The prices for regular appartments, even furnished ones, are not that bad. The problem is of course the short duration of our stay. We'd stay longer if we could though
Anyway, we seek something in the price range of $1000-$1500 per person. I don't really know if this is expensive or not in Korea, but I guess it's about as expensive as here in Norway, and that means we aren't gonna get far with only $1500 each. I'd definately go out and earn some extra cash before summer if someone has a fully/semi furnished place for us, even if it's pricy ^-^
Bottom line is, we need roof above our heads, and some walls to keep the possible monsoons and mosquitoes out.
Speaking of monsoons and weather, I don't really care if it rains or not. Of course it would be quite depressing if we had to chain ourselves to the nearest pilar, to avoid being drowned by a monster tsunami or thrown into the air by a gigantic hurricane. Whenever the sun shines, we can go shopping, do some sightseeing, chat with the locals and enjoy life. However, we're probably gonna spend a lot of time indoors, so the weather isn't that big of a deal ;D We don't know exactly when we will go, but because of university and stuff, it's most likely gonna be in June/July.
Meeting other starcraft fans (I bet there's a lot of them over in Korea ) would be awesome. So if any foreign TL-members (or koreans ofc. :D) are in Korea this summer, give us a pling pling. Maybe we can meet up, eat some snackaroo and do something exciting together

One month in Korea, seems pretty long for. Never been to Korea though, but my Koreans friends told me that unless you like the city life(night life etc) Korea is not a good place to spend your holiday. Maybe you should split it up. Sometime in Korea, Japan, and China or even South East Asia. Would be a better experience compare to your one month Seould plan.

Exactly. You can easily get bored if you don't know what to do in korea or can't find any place for fun activities. My advice is to research a bit more about korea before you go. One month in korea is a long time so I recommend you to travel other asian countries within that month.

Stay in Chez Artosis. He's probably just getting used to living alone, time for more people to move in.
