Listen to da songs
Rika Muranaka and Carla White - Can't Say Goodbye to Yesterday (Jazz)
Rika Muranaka composed this song for the ending of Metal Gear Solid 2. The late and great Carla White offered vocals for the track. It's one of the most relaxing and pretty jazz songs I've heard, perfect for rainy days.
This Town Needs Guns - Panda (Math-Rock)
Another relaxing tune, but this one is much more intricate than the one preceding it. They sound a lot like Toe from my previous blog except with vocals. Another Post/Math-Rock band with a drummer I absolutely adore.
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute (Progressive Rock)
A B-Side from the album with the same name, this was the original opening track. It was eventually scrapped and the album opens instead with "Cygnus...Vismund Cygnus" although I wish they kept it. They've performed it live on a few occasions. The ending to the song in particular is extremely intense.
Historian Himself - Thundering Earth Beast Technique (Hip-Hop)
Easily my favorite rap track of all time due to its eccentricity and humor. This track is a response to amateur rapper "Tykwon Flow" and is part of a rap battle. Needless to say, Tykwon was left in the dust by the Historian's mad rhymes.
The Dear Hunter - City Escape (Post-Hardcore)
The Dear Hunter is the brainchild of the former singer of "The Receiving End of Sirens" and their intent is to showcase the mellower side of Post-Hardcore musicians. I really don't know how to classify their music. Casey Crescenzo has a wonderful voice, this was the first song of theirs that I ever heard. Not my favorite, but I think it showcases the unique timbre of his voice better than any other track.
Chara - Katamoi (Vocal)
The ending theme to the popular romance anime "Kimi ni Todoke". I personally love the song and Chara's unique voice so I'd like to share the track.
Mr.Bungle - Pink Cigarette (Avant-Garde/Crooning)
Mike Patton is a genius, 'nuff said. The video is fan made, but of exceptionally high quality. California by Mr.Bungle is one of my top 5 favorite albums ever, the mixing of classic crooning/doo-wop with ethnic/religious music and Mike Patton's typical crazy experimental touch birthed a glorious record. Couldn't find my favorite track "The Air-Conditioned Nightmare" but this will suffice.'
