Hi TLers!! Sorry to bother you guys again as I know you guys really dislike me judging by my constant low rating blogs you give to me every single time, I have a favor to ask all of you. As I mentioned last time, I have finally got my very first radio / DJ training and am on my way to have my own talk show in the future! I realized that I want to try something new and have this idea to do a video game talk show where I am giving previews, reviews, upcoming, and discussion of various games as well as having video game musics here and there in between.
But that's where the problem lies. I am currently stuck in what video game music are out there which are good recommendations. In my head, I only have things like Final Fantasy, Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Pokemon but I honestly don't know what other epic music there can possibly be? So my dilemma and request for help is this: What are some recommendations of "video games" music that you think would be a good idea to use in my future radio show???
More importantly, I lack the knowledge of the location or sources I can find these music as well. So for those who are also willing to help this step, I ask to possibility PM me some suggestion on where I can find such nice sources to obtain those music. Thanks everyone!! ^_^
Poll: Video Games Radio Show: Good idea or bad idea? (Vote): Good idea! (Vote): Bad idea! (Vote): Other.......
The Donkey Kong Country OSTs are awesome. DKC2 was probably the last platformer I played religiously before the release of New Super Mario Bros Wii. I always loved the music from the series and there are plenty of OCRemix versions of the songs too.
An excellent video game music compilation put together by 4chan's /v/
Good OST's:
Okami LoZ: WindWaker Shadow of the Colossus FF7 FF8 FF9 Chrono Cross Megaman Donkey Cong Country 2 Super Mario 64 The Black Mages Powerglove Metal Gear Solid 1/3/4 OST
Xenogears Chrono Cross Legend of Mana <- if you haven't heard this games soundtrack, get on it. Final Fantasy Tactics Donkey Kong Country 2 <- I am still amazed by the quality of this soundtrack
Oh wow, thank you everyone! I really appreciate the assistance I'm getting from my fellow TLers. This is why I have hope and consider TL my #1 favorite site of all!!! And I was right once more! ^_^
I really like the suggestions and definitely look into all of them. I am planning to like buy a WHOLE 50 CD-Rs package and burn all of them to make a nice video game music collection! But I really like the help I'm receiving and I encourage more and more people to make recommendations!! Thank you so much!!
Honestly, if you can't remember some amazing video game music suitable for a radio show just on top of your head, I doubt that you have the appropriate knowledge to host such a show.
Okay I'm just being an ass, but really, I guess it depends on what type of games you wanna talk about. Mostly old school? New stuff on consoles? Independant?
I love game music. I'll suggest a couple tracks. I don't know song names.
Castlevania Symphony of the Night - Anything Earthbound - Friendly Neighbours (its like midi ragae!) Valkyrie Profile 2 - ?? (the Yggdrasil stage music) Devil May Cry 3 - Taste the Blood (fight music) Castlevania Curse of Darkness - Behjit Mountains (sp?) Valkyrie Profile - At The Bottom of Hell (first dungeon music, this track has two names) Space Giraffe - main theme (its a flash game) Super Valis IV - Vecati (or whatever the first level is called) Desgaea - Laharl's Castle (or better yet, the 8-bit remix version in Disgaea 2) Final Fantasy Tactics - Night Attack (runner up track: Dark) Suikoden II - War Agony (or the generic battle music) Stepmania - Epileptic Crisis (yea really) Chrono Trigger - Zeal Island (easily the best sound track on SNES) Donkey Kong Country II - Bramble Blast (DKC2 had some very nice tracks) Shadow of the Colossus - The Opened Way (the whole soundtrack is epicsauce) Ninja Gaiden (xbox) - Fiend Boss Battle (lovelovelove this track) Street Fighter II - Ken's Theme (maybe Guile for 2nd best) Megaman 2 - Wily's Castle 2 (best track on the NES imo) Megaman 9 - Concrete Man's Stage (or the loungey music from the intro movie) Megaman X3 - Gravity Beetle's Stage MEgaman X6 - Magma Phoenix's Stage (I'm obviously a megaman fan) Brood War - Zerg (with the metal guitar and the drill sounds) Smash Bros Brawl - Final Destination Baldur's Gate - Boss (the super fucking epic sound track that chills spines) Temple of Elemental Evil - Homlett Combat (really good track that I bet no one knows of) Sonic the Hedgehog (original) - Marble Gallery (the lava stage after green hills) Metroid - This song (it was OCRemixed) Kirby 64 - Boss Battle (I think the game is actually called Kirby and the crystal shards or some such crap) Kirby Super Star - Boss Battle (favorite kirby game) Banjo Kazooie - Gruntila's Theme (it's got a bunch of different versions)
Well I used to be a hardcore gamer in the past. Like all old school classic stuff. But those days are all behind me and I have closed my own chapter of gaming for many years now, except for Starcraft. Though currently at this stage, rather than actually playing video games, I'm more into observing them (like PL :D) and just knowing about the facts around it. But it has been a while since I have forgotten how epic some video game music are or which one are, but I still have that memory in my past where I simply loved listening to some of these music. Only problem was I just didn't know what and where.
But after seeing such suggestions here, I've began to relive myself into the past and recalling some of the many music I once listened to. There are new ones as well but I really want to commit myself to create an epic video games radio show when the time comes. And that time will come at least in 2 months or next semester so I want to start preparing early! ^_^
